  • Help , my wife now believes in Psychics

OK this is way to far fetched but stuff is happening that now is not believable. My wife with her cousins had a Psychic come to there Thursday night card game that they do twice a month. They were talking about doing this for a long time and with some research they found one that was reputable. Anyway this Psychic new things without any hints about every ones family. She said things were going to happen and they have been just as she said. Of course it is all coincidence and up until yesterday I still felt that it was a coincidence even though she just hit the numbers. Well guess what she hit the numbers again. The same numbers that the psychic gave her. So now I have my wife and a few others who also play the numbers now believing that this could be for real. Are they hooked or just bait? I think they are just bait.

A couple of months ago a psychic asked me a question and I asked her why she didn't know the answer. If she tells you to stay away from Ford stock, I'll be on the way to being convinced.

If they were psychic, why did your wife and cousins invite them to come? Shouldn't they have just showed up without needing the invite??
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Everything's based on Physics, E=mc(Squared) and you can't push a rope, everything else can be derived.

I believe that anything is possible, never say never. So, who knows, could be true. Anyway, Psychics could be a lot of fun, as long as you don't take them too seriously.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Is the psychic getting a cut on the winnings?

She hit the numbers twice! Does this person do readings over the phone?

I was told that Psychics cannot use their gift for personal gain.

I am going to answer all 3 questions with the same answer, I don't know. I will try to find out and maybe email this thread to my wife so she can answer herself.

The numbers she gave my wife to play was 624, The numbers she gave the entire family to play was 243, She hit the family numbers boxed 2 days in a row. 342 yesterday and 324 came out the night before. Now I know she gave her mom the numbers to play and she won as well. I also know one other cousin who did play it and won as well. One cousin played it but stopped on Friday , She only played one night.
What gets me and Spence your post says the way that I feel. They try to derive info by your responses. This has to be some kind of coincidence. But she knew other information about us and our whole family. My wife swears that she did not give any hints.

Years ago our DS was dating a young gal. He may have still been in HS. On one date she talked Dave into going to a psychic. The psychic talked on and on and then said that the girl would marry a tall, light haired young man and marry him. Dave is 6'2" and has sandy hair. The girl got all excited about this 'revelation' and Dave NEVER dated her again

I have an open mind on the subject of psychics, but from what I have heard and read the trustworthy ones have 2 basic rules.
                          1. They never predict the future in any direct way.
                          2. They don't do the numbers, horses, roulette wheel etc.

If she is that good at predicting the numbers she wouldn't be working. She would be sitting somewhere sunny with her feet up. I would have major concerns about this individual.

That reminds me of Conan O'Brien's ragging on Dionne Warwick-- asking her how come the Psychic Friends didn't know they were going to go bankrupt.

I worry that your wife will accept these incidents as proof of authenticity and remove the layer of healthy skepticism from her consciousness, making her predisposed to believe whatever the "psychic" says. The way I see it, one of three things will happen: either she will keep being right about things like the numbers (and how can you argue with that?), or (more likely) she will start slipping up, or (most likely) she will quit while she's ahead and stop providing concrete proofs and move into vague advising about the future. The "psychic" will probably want to stop with the numbers business now that she has "established" her credibility. Obviously you can't control what your wife believes, but I think it would be good and reasonable to encourage her to continue requiring "proof" of authenticy throughout the relationship. Absent true psychic ability, she will not be able to continously hit the lottery.

I think the real danger lies in scams where the "psychic" weasels money out of their believers. Make sure your wife and other relatives promise to talk to you before forking over any money.

Interesting. Is that because it doesn't work for them? (couldn't two of them get together and "read" for each other?) or is it an ethical restriction?
