I wanted to but I think I bought enough for today. I feel that wine should be nice if you put it a way for a few years. 2005 is a bit young. It was at a good price and the Piedmont area is very well know. There are many top but very small wineries in this area.

To bad they do not give you free combined shipping. This way we could get a few different bottles.

Yes, it would have been nice if they had a mix-and-match or a BOCW (a bag of crappy wine). And it would have been nice if they had loaded the new offerings faster. And putting up the same wine in between new offerings, over and over, wasn't a good idea. And there were very few whites. But it was fun.

So Frank and Avery, should I put my four bottles of expensive (for me) wine in my basement refrigerator, lying on their sides, for a couple of years? Or just in the basement? Drink them in 2009? (I'll put tags on them reminding me not to drink them till then.)

Then if they're crummy, I'll have no way of remembering where the heck they came from.

Put them in a cool dry, Darker the better place in the Basement might be best as long as there is not much fluctuation in temps. You would like to keep it in the 55 to 65 degree range. I would open one up this year just to taste it so you will see what the difference is later on. IMO I think you can start to have it during the holidays of 08 and 09. I would hold the last bottle for 5-6 years if you were able to keep the bottle at the temps I posted.

        Enjoy

Our basement is cool and fairly dry. (After a fortune spent on waterproofing. ) It probably gets well over 65 on the hottest days of summer, though. I would move it into the fridge for the summer...but I know I won't remember.

Thanks for your blessing on drinking one right away. If I put them in the basement, we'll be lucky to remember it's down there in 2008-2009. I hardly remember yogurt when I've put it in the basement refrigerator.

It took them 4 days to reply to me!

Looks like they would have combined the shipping.

            Here was Jeffs Reply

            Yes

Will I be able to get free shipping by combining my orders. Say I take a bottle of one and two bottles of another one and three bottles of another one. If I get like 6 to 12 different wines will I be able to combine them to get free shipping?

Truly a man of few words. Nice to know for next time.

Where is your wine shipped from? I get these e-mails saying only that Jeff from Ashland has mailed me a package, and giving a tracking number.

The first time I got one, I thought it was some kind of creepy spam and I was afraid to check the tracking number.

Maybe the site is owned by Cendant?

Which one was the Ruffino? Was that the $50 one that we were talking about? I'm sorry I can only remember them by price. Isn't that sad?

My mid-price Australian shiraz is very good. (And by mid-price I mean about $10 a bottle.) We took some to some friends of ours who are serious wine drinkers...quantity and quality. They liked it too and the bottle is very pretty, with a gold accent label at the bottom.

I haven't tried the $17 wine yet, but it arrived very quickly.
