I bought DH a Magellan 760 in 2006. "Maggie" is pure heaven and makes vacation travel a joy. It is portable with good 3D graphics ,20 gb Hardrive with 300 pda address book uploads ,7 million POI and audibly tells directions in short intervals such as "take a right turn in .05 miles". You do not have to upload maps off the net either.

We pack it when we fly for the rentals. No more you missed the turn arguments or what was the exit or street????

My cousin has the 700 with 1 million POI and loves hers but the 760 has more features.

We did not buy the 800 model although it is a little new and cheaper with photo & ipod type capability. You cannot use the navigation feature while using those functions and secondly we already have Ipods and digital cameras.

I shopped for the Garmin and Magellan as they had better online reviews-epionions and other sites and member posts. Sometimes there are rebates. Price has dropped on the 760 model since I bought it. I used Amazon for mine after much research on quality and price.

TomTom and the Nuvi are also rated well.
