  • Portable GPS Navigation

I am thinking about getting a portable GPS for my car. TomTom and Magellan are two that I have been reading about. Have you had any experince with these. What brand should I look at or stay away from. Any Recommendations?

Also, If you have one do you take it on vacations with you to put in your rental car.

    Thanks,

    Dale

I bought a Garmin for Steve last Christmas. We use it primarily for travel. Steve has used it on business trips and we've used it for vacation as well.

      Garmin

We have a Garmin Nuvi 660 that we really like. Stuck with Garmin since my handhelds are Garmins. We got the 660 because it comes with the traffic system and that is one think hubby really wanted. (It will alert you if there is a problem where you are going or you can check if there is a problem nearby. The only caveat is, it must be an area that has this traffic system.)

That figures, I am always a "day late" when it comes to good deals.

I have a Lowrance i500, which I like a lot, big screen. On my trip to AZ this Christmas, I programed into locations before we left and it was great for getting around the area.

We have a Garmin and love it. My husband says it's the only women who knows the right directions.

I got Steve's Garmin through costco.com. At the time found the best prices there and I like the fact that if anything goes wrong we can take it back in to our local Costco for return.

Depending on what cell service you have you can get GPS activated, that way you always have it with you. Comes in great when your on vacation and walking around.
