Wine Help

I know I am in the right place I know nothing, nada, zip about wine. Sister is turning 40, loves Italian wine, she has been to Italy twice and I don't want to screw this up....Help. Want to send her wine for the big B-day.
Have read through the wine threads and I have no idea what is good or bad. She does the cheap wine too-but I want to send her something better.
I was looking at wine.com and Italian Wine Merchants in NY. Here is what I know....she likes Italian (which region-I have no idea-I should have paid attention when she was blabbering on about it ) she likes red and well, that's about it.

I was looking at the Viva Italia collection on Wine.com and the Italy's Indigenous Red Sampler (under 6 packs) on Italian Wine Merchants. Are either of these good? Which is better? Should I just do a gift cert and let her pick her own? It doesn't have to knock her socks off-I just want her to be able to know it's good wine and that I did a little research. Can you help me?

Mostly what they have on winestillsoldout.com is good Italian red. Frank and Glitter will be able to advise you better, but all three of us have been happy with all the wine we've bought there.

The prices seem to be EXCELLENT and the shipping is fast and free (depends on the number of bottles you order, the number differs from day to day--more expensive bottles are shipped free if you only buy one, less expensive bottles you have to buy 6 or more to get free shipping).

The wine changes every day. Maybe there will be something that appeals to you in the next few days.

Let me know what you want to spend and if you want 1 bottle or a few. Some of my favorites are Tiganello at about $80 a bottle. Ruffino Duci de Oro gold at $40. Brunelo de Montelechino $50 and up. I will add to this when I get back on Tuesday.
