  • A sad story that hits too close to home

I received a phone call from my mother yesterday telling me of a tragedy that happened on Sunday night.

My cousin is married to a woman who has an adult daughter from a previous marriage. This daughter was involved in a tragic car accident Sunday night in Salt Lake City.

The daughter, her name is Annette Paget, was driving in her car with her three-year old daughter Alexis when they were hit by another car. Alexis was killed instantly. Annette was hurt badly, her arm had to be amputated. The teenage boy who hit them is on life support.

What is even more tragic - is that Annette and her husband lost a newborn son in December. Fortunately, they also have a 9-year old son.

Annette is a nurse and was just starting a new job on Monday with a Salt Lake hospital. Unfortunately, they don't have insurance.

Here's a link to the story with a video:

I just wanted to share this story with you. This is the type of tragedy you hear about sometimes - but it's so hard when it hits so close to home like this. I didn't know Annette or her family, but I know my cousin and his wife and they are devastated. How does one make sense of this type of thing?

Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Yolanda, what a very tragic story and it really hits home when you hear it from family members or good friends? Didn't you recently also lost good friends too who had a private plane accident and both were experienced pilots?

I guess, we need to be thankful for every day we get and are in good health or in one piece too. How awful that she lost her arm and her daughter too.

      Yolanda,

Such a sad story, there is nothing more painful than losing a child. My heart goes out to your cousin and his wife as they struggle to support their daughter and her family.

Thanks Emmy and Ann. It is very tragic.

Emmy, yes we lost my sister-in-law (my husband's sister) and her husband in a plane crash in August. It was a small private plane, they were both killed in the crash. My husband and I were very close to them.

        Count your blessings everyone.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

There is nothing to say.... Hopefully the other driver wasn't drunk.

That's so heartbreaking. It just seems so unfair to have so many tragedies in one family.

Life is just not fair. This is proof. I hate when people say that everbody has something...because some people just get it a lot more than others....
