  • Check out this eBay auction! College tuition

You know I love a good eBay auction. This is pretty clever marketing from this university--auction off a year's tuition!

eBay: One year of college tuition, room, and board (item 290080517719 end time Feb-13-07 00:27:26 PST)

I think people are bidding crazy money for the heck of it. Out-of-state tuition at this school is only $8,200 per year! Geez, it's a deal.

I checked start with google to that university. Look like it is legit. It is very creative. Check with CBS news. Since the bidding is including tuiation, room and meal, it is estimated valued around $23,000. So look very close. And winner has to submit for finacial aid, so don't know the result.

But for a 1,000 student university, this is very good ad.

I expect most bidding probably shilling from the alumni. It will not be bad. And it probably not really in the eye's of saving.

It is very creative from a university like that, I wish they can attract enough talents.

Tuition does not include the room, board and fees. With a tuition bill at $8,200, the total bill for a fall and spring semester with the room, board etc, will be at least $20,000. (Unfortunately, I know this from a current personal experience. )

The marketing is really impressive. The auction is featured on CNN.com.

So $19,600 is still not really a bargain.

Here's Q&A on the bidding, from the school's website.

Also they do offer financial aid, so an applicant would have some chance of paying less than $20,000 a year.
