  • Call Phone in the Washing Machine

I've been wearing those carpenter blue jeans with that nice little cell phone pocket on the left leg. I knew it would happen sooner or later.

Yesterday we did some burning and last night my bride gathered up the smoke-smelly clothes and washed them. Oops.

Well, all I ever used it for was to find her at Wal Mart.

Did the phone stay in the pocket? If yes, you have a good pair of jeans

I dunno. I'm not allowed to operate the washing machine.

I think I will sell the phone. The ad will read, "Used Motorola V180. Doesn't Work But It's Clean."

Many times water will not cause a problem with the cell phones. BUT water is often very bad for cell phone's batteries. So, you may be able to replace the battery and it will work but only maybe.

On our last trip to Hawaii my DH got in the hot tub with his cell phone in the pocket of his swim trunks. He took it apart and dried it carefully with a hair dryer and it worked fine.

I've had it disassembled with a small fan blowing on it. We'll see.

Maybe a good new thread: What is the worst thing you have done to your cell phone? Did it still work?

OOOPS......... Reminds me of the time the kids' pet turtle got washed because it had crawled into the heap of dirty clothes.

                    Hope

My work pager once fell out of my pocket and into the toilet. Never worked again.

I put it back together and it was dead.

I put it on the charger and it did not want to. Then it did. A minute later it said Charge Complete.

                        It appears to be fine.

I have had really bad luck with cell phones...

I lost one when working outside. I sat it on the trunk of a car while we were doing landscaping work and proceeded to forget it... We drove to get lunch and I remembered and had that sinking fealing... Well, it fell off in the road just up from the house but it got squashed with cool tire prints in the LCD!

A second one ended up becoming part of the concrete footers of our deck. I had it clipped to me and I saw it fall but with the cement comming out of the truck there was no way to get it back.

These days I don't keep a cell phone on me while I do work and I have not killed a phone in about 3-years.

We keep all our old cell phones when we get new one just in case. We even got a 4 new ones last year and kept 2 in the box because my kids have killed too many of theirs. The last one with an orange juice spill into her purse. Had to wash the phone (without the battery) in clear water and let dry for 3 days before it worked again.
