Cheer up, DH and I were bumped once a long time ago, off a flight from San Francisco to Newark. As soon as the flight left, the airline clerks actually chewed us out for giving up our seats on a flight to a destination as "weird" as Newark! The whole thing was so unpleasant that we never even used the flight vouchers we got for being bumped.

We were bumped on our way to Seattle where the TUG Alaska dinner took place the night before our cruise so we missed it. We were very upset about it because we had reserved seats and had booked the flight long in advance.

They say that the computer spits out who is going to be bumped or not. There were at least 20 people bumped that day. A free ticket was nice to get but I was looking forward to meet some of the local Seattle people who came to the dinner too.

Alaska Airlines always seem to bump people as I now pay attention to it and getting a free ticket is nice to get. They also will pay for your lodgings if you have to stay overnight plus money towards a meal unless you eat at McDonalds. The vouchers are for $10, I seem to remember.

Yes - ATA all the way - we were at Midway.

Just got a call from my friend...she took a bump off her direct Cancun to Newark flight Saturday for 2 nights at the all inclusive Gran Caribe Real in Cancun, first class flight on Monday and $300 vouchers for 3 people. They even asked if she wanted 2 rooms at the resort but she took one for herself and 2 kids.
