  • GE Customer Service

I was really when the big bin on the door of our brand new GE Monogram fridge busted the other day. But we called yesterday to ask for a new one, it was under warranty, and I just opened the door to let the dog in and the replacement was sitting outside, having been delivered FedEx overnite!!!

Does the great customer service make up for the lousy quality? Probably not but it sure helps

I still haven't forgiven them for the PCBs in the Hudson river. I really hated that the only in-wall gas self-cleaning oven that would replace my Caloric was a GE product.

Well; glad you got your bin promptly.

I'm against them for polluting the Housatonic. I don't think they make much of anything anymore, getting most of their junk from overseas and probably polluting the rest of the world now.

Believe me, if the GE weren't thousands (no joke, like $2000) less than the SubZero in the same size, I would have passed on it.

Interesting, I felt the same way you do. I was so excited to read your post -- it validated what I suspected about GE appliances.

We purchased a home in 2000, and replaced ALL appliances in the kitchen with brand new top of the line GE appliances (along with a washer and dryer). Less than a year later, All appliances except the dishwasher, broke in one fashion or another. (I cried -- I figured I had been sold refurbished equipment. Otherwise, How is it ALL of the appliances broke down, or failed to perform properly?)

As you mentioned, Customer service was fantastic. (Either replacment or FREE servicing forever.)

BUT, for this home, purchased last year, I DID NOT buy GE appliances.

I even was told by the service technician that the model of microwave I had purchased was known to be defective -- the glass covering the lights was known to crack/break (unit was installed above the range and the glass covering the light above the rangetop cracked/broke)

Whew, now I feel better. I have been holding that anger with GE appliances in for awhile.
          hope this info helps,

I have a GE profile Stove with no problems at all. I also have a GE profile over the stove microwave. When I first opened the box the frame was scratched. They sent me a new frame over night with all new hardware. I find the GE products have always been good. Am I missing something?

A little over ten years ago - just before we left California - we had a kitchen remodel done which included a built-in GE refrigerator. Our contractor was a friend who had recently redone his kitchen similarly. We liked his remodel so we said do the same thing for us.

About three months after the project was done, the compressor had a total failure. Fortunately still under warranty.

I mentioned it to my friend - turns out his compressor also had failed - about one month before ours did. They also went out a on a couple of other projects he did about the same time.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

The compressor problems have allegedly been addressed. I took a five year warranty (less $ than upgrading to the SubZero), so hopefully anything else that goes wrong will happen within that time frame... The plastic shelves are definitely not strong enough, the top shelf was bowing under the weight of all the stuff I had to take out of the door bin...

Our new LG just got installed yesterday. I broke down and took the extended warranty from Home Depot. I virtually never buy those - I always think they're a bad deal. But in this case I decided to take it. After rebates, etc., was cheaper with the warranty.
