Gosh, I feel bad for you all. It's cooling down out here, into the low 70's today.

Sure hope it clears up before we put dd on a plane on Sunday to go back to school in PA.

Low 70's today here in God's country. It's that wonderful time of year where one can snow ski in the morning and get in 18 holes in the afternoon and still get home by 5:00.

Roads are treacherous, have been for about 2 hours, sleet/snow on and off since 10 AM but no real accumulation.
The HS kids got out an hour early, but they kept the younger ones for the full day. Roads were dangerous by the time the real little ones got on the bus. Not smart planning this time.
I made sure everyone got where they wanted to be for today and now we can sit back and not worry about it til tomorrow .

That has to be in the northwest and sounds wonderful. What State is it?

We have the sun but not the snow on our doorstep but still I prefer it over all that cold weather back east.

Be careful with walking or driving or you may end up like this.

Our son used to surf in the morning and snow ski in the afternoon here in sunny Southern California. He went to Big Bear to ski.

They actually closed work at 3:00 which was nice. Still snowing at a good clip.

That's right, you can do it, if there is snow. I was more thinking of Mammoth mountain where there is snow most of the time. Yes, we are spoiled in southern California weather-wise, John.

We've had record breaking temps for the last five days. Right now it is 4:22 PM, and it is 88º with 9% humidity. Sweet!

Yes, the Great Northwest -- Idaho specifically. Our house is about 20 miles from the ski hill, and about 1.5 miles from the closest golf course ($25 for 18 holes). Oh, and 10 minutes to work. Did I mention we have no traffic? Or that I can hear the coyotes howl in the evenings (when the geese don't drown them out) and see at least 10 deer on the way to work every morning? Other than that, this place sucks!

It's 76 degrees outside at 6:20 pm near sunset. Mostly cloudy, 9 mph tradewinds blowing. All the windows are opened. 30% chance of rain. Everything nice and green except for the flowers.

The last week was a bit warm in the afternoons. Had to close the windows and run the A/C for a couple of hours.

Over 10" and now sleet or freezing rain. Over 400 accidents in CT so far. I finally got to use the snow thrower which should make tomorrow's clean up a lot easier as the snow/sleet/freezing rain is supposed to stop here in the morning sometime. Flood watches for eastern CT. Looks like all the womens basketball teams made it to Hartford for the regional NCAA tournament, tho one bus broke down in NJ on the way. Flurries and snow showers predicted for the next 3 days.

Tony it is just as bad down here. St Paddys day will be an indoor event this year. I doubt many will be going into the city for the parade.

Not here....My DH just tried to use ours, and it's all ice. Snow Blower just skidded along the driveway.

DDs 1 and 2 went off to school but I'm keeping the baby (the elderly baby, she's 7) home because I walk her to school and I was worried that the pick-up would be horrible, even walking. I felt like a wimp until I went outside to walk the dog and got PELTED with this sleety/haily stuff.

DH teaches HS and is the drama director. The show was supposed to be tonight and tomorrow. He's ripping his hair out b/c the tickets are sold and the school auditorium is booked, and if the show has to be cancelled there are no more openings at the auditorium for MONTHS. Also the girls in the cast are getting into screaming hissy fights during every rehearsal.
Wacky, did they have to cancel the show?

We have crappy weather here alot on St. Patrick's Day (snow, rain, cold and windy etc). Sometimes I think it's God's way of keeping some of the Irish off the roads!!

Yes. At first they cancelled it for Friday and then, ten minutes after school let out and the cast and crew had left, the administrators paged DH and told him they were cancelling for Saturday, too. So he's got to get in touch with all the kids today. (He sent e-mails yesterday but he wants to follow up.)

The school auditorium is booked practically from now to the end of the school year. He might be able to get the kids in there on Wednesday night and that's pretty much the only open evening for months.

They did do the show on Thursday at one of the elementary schools and apparently it KILLED! (In a good way. The kids loved it.) So he's happy about that. They're supposed to tour all the elementary schools in the district, so at least the show will get that much of an outing.
