Good luck to the girls. Senior year spring break... They deserve a nice week somewhere. Maybe if they're all still friends in 20 years they'll have a nice cruise reunion.

IME, the best thing to do is keep moving forward. As a cruise is a pretty condensed vacation, missing even one day is really depressing. When we encounter irrops (irregular operations), or when anticipating them, I have multiple backup plans set up. If we get caught, I, as it appears you do as well, try to keep moving forward, as more opportunities open up as one gets closer to their destination.
Tell them to not wait on a travel agent or trip insurer. While such may minimize cost, it will more than likely destroy the fun part of the vacation. Get going

WELL, THEY ARE ON THE MOVE...THEY ARE GETTING THE 4:40 PM AMTRAK TO nyc WHERE THEY ...OOPS! where they will join us at the Manhattan Club (and the Parker Meridian) for tonight.....it is St Patrick's Day after all!
Then they will fly from JFK into Cancun tomorrow night and then on to Cozumel Monday morning to join the ship.......Comment

I know that this has been an absolute nightmare!!! But, they will have a ball in the city tonight, and then off to their cruise tomorrow........I'm glad that it worked out, in the end.

A friend of mine was trying to get out of Logan back home to Cincinatti yesterday. She didn't make it. Flight canceled, next available would be Sunday. So, she was going to drive back with a co-worker. Don't know if she's made it home yet.
Younger dd flies back to PA (through Dulles) tomorrow. All flights from Dulles to State College yesterday were cancelled and the flight she normally takes from Oakland to Dulles was canceled today. So, we're all keeping our fingers crossed that things are back to normal tomorrow.LuanneComment

My DS was supposed to fly out of Philadelphia today to Grand Cayman. Her flight was supposed to originate in Logan this morning. Not surprising, her flight didn't make it. They had a long delay and they are now staying overnight in another city (at their own expense) to try to fly out tomorrow.

There is a positive side to all this mess- after all the years that your daughter has probably taken all the travel arrangements you've made for the family somewhat for granted, now she'll appreciate how much effort and aggravation sometimes goes into making arrangements.

Happy to report that their Jet Blue flight took off on time at 9:30pm and they are on their way to Cancun....will take a van tomorrow morning to Playa Del Carmen and a ferry to Cozumel where they will board the Carnival something or other!
Hope our next vacation is a little more restfull

I just heard on the news that US Airways seems to have been the hardest hit this time. They are still looking for seats for over 100,000 passengers (Sunday night).
I'm flying out tomorrow on United. Not only do I have a seat, but I've been confirmed in first class. We'll see how it goes.
