  • Another "You couldn't make it up" story.

Every now and then you come across a story that seems so ridiculous it must be true because nobody would make up something so incredible. I think this one fits that category.

For those who don't want to follow the link, the basic story is that the courts in Scotland have decided that a pre-recorded message at the start of all phone calls made by prisoners in Scottish jails infringes their human rights as it was "an unnecessary and embarrassing reminder" of where he was phoning from.
The scumbag who brought the case has obviously caused more than embarrassment to his victims as he is currently serving a 21 year sentence for his crimes.

I just watched "Papillon" that old Steve McQueen movie the other night on TV. Pretty brutal story but sometimes I think the old Devil's Island idea for hardened criminals was a better solution. I know, I know, stop throwing stones. I'm all for humane treatment & all that but......

It sure was easier & more cost effective in olden days when societies could just ban them from the tribe & send them out into the desert to fend for their lives on their own.
The legitimate object of Government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done but cannot do at all or cannot do so well for themselves”- Lincoln

Awww, poor little criminal got his feelings hurt. Boo, hoo!

Could've used the knife he used against the manager to cut his fingers off, instead. Then he couldn't make any calls.
