Our girl Lucy, who left us Oct 5 2001, will be waiting to show Scooter the way.

When we lost her I wrote a short poem I called "Puppy dog dreams"
In that Lucy was free from her pain and worries and was running free, sniffing all the scents in big open fields and as frisky as when she was a puppy.

Our 4-1/2 year old Beagle Lady wishes you well and wants you to know you are good, loving parents.

Jeanne, I'm so sorry. I know how hard you are taking this. Check your email for an e-card I hope will help a bit. You and Scooter are in my thoughts and prayers today and tomorrow too. Be well, and always dwell on the good times.

          11/14/93 - 05/10/07 In Memoriam

Scooter passed away quietly this morning at 8:30 a.m. We were arranging a time for the vet to come to our house and were waiting for the return call.

While waiting, we decided to take him around our circle in his doggy stroller - just "once around" for a goodbye.

I had Lucy on her lead ahead of DH pushing Scoot's stroller. DH stopped in the driveway to arrange Scoot's pillow for comfort. I looked back and Scooty looked bright and clear directly at me ahead.. I then looked back again when I heard a loud sigh/exhalation sound. Scooter's eyes were blank and his breathing had ceased.

He passed away in his stroller, in his driveway with the birds singing, the sun on his back and looking at me and his sister Beagle.

          God is great.

Oh, Beags. I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad for you that he went himself, and in such a beautiful way. He took care of you to the end. A noble creature indeed. I am in tears.

A good boy 'til the end.

                Thank you.

                The Dance

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

                And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go

Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

                Holding you I held everything
                For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all

                And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance

                    Beags,

I've been spending some time looking for a reference but can't find one.

Something about the very last image in your eyes being taken with you beyond the pale.

If that is truly the case then your Scooter is a happy dog, taking you and his sister with him into eternity or whever we and our beloved pets go.

I am glad that if it just had to be, that this was the way and time he chose to go.

                    Good dog indeed.

                      Beags,
If it had to happen, and sadly, it does, at least he was surrounded by his family and nature.
I can't read any of these threads about animals without crying.

I am very sorry that you lost Scooter but what a nice way he said goodbye to you and his beagle sister. Take care of yourself as you have gone through a lot this last month.
