The Scoot Report:
He remains in ICU, but not in an oxygen cage. The vets are calling him their "miracle dog" as he should not be here, but he is. I have been staying with him and hand feeding him homemade beef broth & shredded boiled beef & rice, taking him outside to urinate(the cathether was removed) and just comforting him (or vice versa). I am blessed to be able to stay over in his cage (big, walk-in type).Tufts is good like that.
The plan is to release him tomorrow (what a birthday gift) to home where he will probably pass away during the week. The pneumonia did a number on his lungs which have cancer, bilaterally. I have a slew of meds, both oral and injectable, to make him comfortable with. At least he will be home, in his own bed, with Lucy (his Beagle sister), me and Beagledad.
Bittersweet, but God is great.
Thank you, each and every one of you, for sharing your stories and support.
In the words of Ralph Cramden, "Baby, you're the greatest !".

Late edit: Changed my avatar to a happier time down the old cottage on Cape Cod. I did the needlework for this pillow (from a kit) which was almost identical to Scooter. There he is on the messy Beagle-bed.
