I've seen nothing to suggest that the result of not entering the member code would be anything other than I outlined. I can certainly see no logic in any other outcome. After all those who are having difficulty in identifying and entering the code have still paid their membership fees.
I certainly wouldn't deny that there have been some high-handed actions on TUG in the past, although I haven't seen anything like that recently. Also, although I can understand the frustration voiced OY by one of the mods on the subject of the member code, I don't agree with the way that frustration has been voiced. None of the mods, here - OY - or anywhere else are forced to do the job. How can they / we (as mods) expect and enforce civility if we can't show it ourselves??
By the way - no offence taken. I think we have known each other long enough through the boards to realise that neither of us has the intention to offend the other despite sometimes having differing views on a subject. We just sometimes has strong views firmly stated.

The whole password problems on TUG were not handled well.

But the idea that TUG members would have their own user name and password was a good idea. And the idea that BBS members could and should use their BBS name was a good idea.

The idea to change the code within the BBS which tells the BBS if your a TUG member or not, should have been delayed till way after the new TUG website login was completed.

BUT, The new directions for completing both the new TUG signin and changing your BBS profile to TUG member status is much better explained now than it was in the past week.

AS far as the moderation OY. Brian sent me an email last week after I closed a thread and said I should let the people continue to argue. So yes things have loosened up a bit.

                My opinion FWIW

Years ago in 2001 I had signed an agreement to buy at MGV. Got back and jumped on the net.

What did I find. TUG! I am forever greatfull because TUG saved me a ton of money. Of course I rescinded and now I will only buy resale.

Also I love this place TS4MS. Much looser than TUG. I also very much like TUG, espcially the Marriott forum. That guy Dave is a genius! I intend to maintain my membeship.

I also had a problem with those pw instructions and I still don't fully understand what I did to correct my profile. I had to read very carefully. In the end I got it to work.

I will continue to renew my dues at TUG.

Someone please tell me what OY stands for?

OY is what JLB uses for TUG. Some others do as well.

I work in our computer lab here, and I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out, but it took me almost a half hour to make my TUG user account work. The (original) directions were horrible. From what I understand they are now better, with pictures, etc. Even still, they may have to accept the fact that they will have to personally help some people upon request, going in and changing their user record for them. There is no reason it should have been that difficult.

                  JMHO, of course.

Don't tell anyone but I have been trying to get Dave over here to help moderate as well. He knows everything. He does not have time right now but hopefully in the future he will. He does come over to post and answer questions once in a while and for that I am grateful.

BTW I did every thing correctly I thought and when I was done I was still listed as a Guest and unable to see the sightings board. I posted and with in minuites Tug improvments fixed it. I did not think I did any thing wrong but he said I got half of it right.

I just renewed OY, but decided to give it a try over here as well. Just what I need, a reason to spend even more time contemplating our next vacations!
