Utility Room Walls

I have a Utility Room in the basement that are stud walls with insulation. I want to cover these walls with something. Looking for suggestions that folks have used in their homes. Thanks.

You can Sheetrock it or use paneling. Tiles would be not be feasable.

You can use a wood paneling, or bead board, which allows you to more easily nail things into the wall without the concerns/preparations, needed to nail into sheet rock.

You can use a peg board, if you have a lot of tools, and stuff, and you like that kind of system.

If you want to make it utility/storage, you can use cedar, which will protect you clothing from moths, etc.

Or, you can keep it the way that it is....hang stuff on the exposed beams, and go on vacation!

I like the peg board idea. I had that in a pantry once, and it was great. I don't know if you have to put it over Sheetrock or what.

The basement isn't wet, is it?

It is a dry basement.

Whatever you choose, try to go with a light color (white). It helps to reflect light and brighten up the area.

You have a dry basement... ok, but what is behind that insulation? Is it block, concrete or is it only plywood?

The walls that I want to cover are the back side of partian walls, wood studs, drywall and insulation. I want to put something to cover up the insulation. The other wall is concrete block and I plan on painting those with a drylock paint or something similar.

I think that it would really depend on what you plan on using the room for. If your only concern is to cover the insulation, than maybe sheet rock is the way to go. It's most likely your least expensive option.
