Looks scammy to me. HP has their own Consumer Test Panel, and I would bet the others do to. I'm approved for HP's, but so far I haven't done anything.

I am on an AVON Advisory Panel, and one for a major food manufacturer. Mostly you get an Amazon gift certificate every month for them, and several times a year products to use and analyze. I've also done "usability studies" for AOL and a major pharmaceutical company.

Thanks Fern. I was just wondering if someone had been bit by this outfit.

From reading the Q&A list, it looks like quite a lot to go through to ever recieve a certificate that is good for anything.

Probably the same outfit that I get spam from to get a free camera.

          Advisory Panels

          Fern,

How do you get selected to be on advisory panels? It sounds like fun.

I think that Fern is right, it sounds a bit scammy.
I looked at it and started to to the prelim stuff but found that it was one of those offers that you have to accept 2 offers from this category to continue on and then 2 offers from this category, etc. The offers you have to accept are either trial subscriptions to various stuff or signing up for some training, etc.

Legit Ways to Product Test, etc

There are two websites that helped me get started, Your Daily Freebies, http://www.freesamplesite.com/ydf/index.php and Volition, Volition®

On YDF, you should go to the Surveys section. That's where you'll find info on product testing and legit surveys. Note that many of the survey companies have long, involved surveys that lead nowhere. You have to figure out if the surveys are something you want to do. I'm registered with about four of them, and I probably only fill out one in ten or fifteen surveys.

On Volition there are a couple places to look. First, you have to scroll down the page to see the menu. Then check out Get Paid, and also the Forums area. Both are helpful.

Volition has an area of focus group listings, and you can also find these by Googling them with the words focus group and your town or the largest nearby town. Most of these are done in person, but more and more are web-based. They pay well, usually $75.--$150. a pop, cash, no social security number.

              Good luck!

I belong to 5 different survey groups and have done product testing. I average 4-5 surveys a day. I have turned down several. The legit ones are not going to be offering Canon Cameras. One of them pays me for taking their surveys but the amount is quite small from 0 - $10.00 but it does add up after awhile. Most of them offer points that can be redeemed for merchandise, etc. and most have drawings.
