For the recond, Judy, that money that Bill Rogers spent in the beginning was his mistake. I wish I could be repaid by others for mistakes I made. The last time I paid for TUG membership it was $ 25 for 3 years. I like the system here better, where you can pay what you want or even take the free ride- No members or guests to lead to discrimination.

I have to agree. I have never disliked TUG or any TUG mods but I am not happy that TUGBrian did that here - making threats here to ban them permanently elsewhere. What is it with the mentality that people should not dare to question, disagree with nor contradict "authority"? Even over here? Are people who are edited, banned and deleted going to be stalked over here to see if they "tell"? It appears pretty egocentric to me. The powers that be just do whatever they feel like at one particular moment in time - editing and deleting people willy nilly in a knee-jerk reaction.

JMH Opinion in relation to this matter.

And if you don't like it, I do not have others.

However, this post brought to mind that I have, on a number of occasions in the past, suggested to TUG BBS participants that they become paying TUG members. I hadn't intended to give anyone a hard time about not paying -- my suggestion to pay the $15 merely reflected the fact that many useful features of the site were available only to paying members. So, when someone asked for, say information as to the nicest resorts in Orlando, I'd suggest paying so that they could see the reviews.
        Judy,

I wasn't referring to anybody in particular with my comments about the 'pay-up brigade', nor do I have any argument with suggesting to people that if they want review information on TUG they need to pay for membership. All that is happening there is that factual information is being posted. That isn't a refusal to answer perfectly legitimate questions. To be honest, in the past when a Guest has asked about a resort, I have checked the resort database and let them know if there are any reviews, but not commented on the content. I have also advised that they need to be a member to access that information.
My gripe, and it's one backed up by mods and members, is those whose only contribution to any question asked by a Guest is to tell them to pay their membership if they want answers. It was quite commonplace to see comments like "You have over 100 posts, why haven't you become a member?". That is the attitude that annoys me.
I don't have a problem with TUG being a commercial enterprise. What is wrong with any site being run on business lines? Those of us who have volunteered to help over there have done so with our eyes open. I have no idea how much profit TUG generates, but I would guess that it isn't sufficient to pay all the mods, review reps etc. Maybe I'm naive, but I'm happy to receive the occasional message of thanks from people using the review system.
I don't think it's any secret, although I wasn't aware when I took on the European Reviews, that mods and reps do get free membership.

Thanks for the clarification, Keith. I didn't know that mods/review reps get a free TUG membership, but that certainly sounds reasonable.

Well, a lot of reading these past couple of days for sure. I was a "guest" at TUG for a number of years and only last year paid for membership. I am happy with my membership and I visit the site several times a day and sincerely appreciate all the information and posts by more experienced forum members. I post occassionally if I have something to offer. I have only recently become a member of TS4MS and it is a daily read and occasional post now as well.

Maybe it's just me, but I read everything and take no offense to anything. I just take it with a grain of salt. Maybe someone is having a bad day, etc. Maybe it is because I am involved with other forums related to different hobbies and there are a lot of personalities involved.

I just wanted to personally thank BOTH sets of forum members and moderators OH and OY for their sage advice on timesharing and for keeping me up to speed on the industry. It is not easy being a moderator for any type of forum and I surely appreciate the hard work.

            Have a great day!

Just letting you all know. We do not want posts with names in them. You got a problem with a person Please PM them but leave there name out. I am getting emails from members that feel this is not right and I agree. Do not use a persons name unless they agree. Putting a name in a post is taunting the person and in that case the person who used the name is at fault.
We will remove any names from this moment on and we will be going back to edit some who have not responded on thread and are Innocent here.
