I guess I just don't understand WHY the number of posts should decide whether you read something or not....I like the idea of another forum section to post and then if ya don't want to read it, don't go there....

Think wmowners. What if they had a steam room where only people with 100 or more posts could access it and all posts about how terrible the board is and all those who are unhappy about WM4Ms get moved there? And, it was opt in, only.

How different would the character of the site be?

Right now, I don't hang out there much because it's full of rancorous WorldMark owners who are ticked off about being censored on WM4Ms and the lack of independence of the board.

That explains Kapish' vote of 2000. I don't think that is such an outrageous notion.

I disagree. I've been around for quite a while - though I had to re-register once. Maybe because I didn't post enough? I don't talk a lot... I don't type a lot... but I like to read and learn and usually someone else says what I would have said anyway - that doesn't mean I haven't been around long enough or that I don't get steamed.

I see your point and it is well taken. In your case since you have been here from the start of this site. We could still find a way to get you in if you realy wanted to get in. We are stopping someone who might have just came here to get there 15 posts to get into the exchange Opps board or the political forum.

Like I said above. We do not want to rub a fairly new member the wrong way. You could have joined this month and all of a sudden in a week have your 15 posts. You have enjoyed the site up to this point and now you will see the Exchange opps and are able to opt into the Political forum. You might still like the site with or with out the political forum but now you see the steam room. What would you do if you have only been here a week and opt into there to see things posted there that you would not see any place else. You might even see a different side of the members that you might have had respect for.
We want you to first use the site and to see what we are about before judging us.
Right now we are still working out what post leval should gain access.

Or we could make it 20 but then the Political forum and the exchange opps would also be 20 or even 25.
100 seems like the best choice but I would be happy with 25 knowing that we would be raising the posts required to get to see the exchange opps or Political forums.

You can not please everyone but we are trying best we can!

I want to personally thank you for addressing this very important issue in such a positive and all encompassing way. A lot of people weighed in and you listened to everyone and came up with what I believe is a good compromise. I know the last 24 hours have been really tough and you did it for the good of the community taking in to consideration everyone's needs.

(careful now you are venturing into a new topic...) My DH came up for a nickname for whoever is brave enough to moderate the Steam Room...sort of an homage to the CA Gov....we should call the mod/mods "The Ventilator."

I agree with the 100 post minimun.....Let people have a better idea of what TS4M's is really about, before being exposed to this type of forum.

If the purpose of the Steam Room is purely to provide a location for people to voice their obsessions with other sites and the way they are run I don't care if the requirement is 5 or 500 posts. I don't see it as being a beneficial addition to the site and won't be going there. The only good thing will be not having to put up with the sort of **** that has been hitting the site lately.

BTW Just because it is in the new Steam room does not mean you will be able to use names of people and disrespect them. We will be more tolerant there and posts should not be edited there unless we have to.

Are you going to moderate this room and make sure this area is not used to gossip and disrespect people. This room is going to immediately develop into a place to disrespect people. Folks don't get mad at things , they get mad a people .

I'm with Keith on this one. Let them opt in. I'm not going in there just like I won't go in the Pollitical forum. If a poster with less than 100 points get his/her post moved there, they will feel like they are being censored. The only requirement for them to continue their rant and rave will be to join the Steam Room.

BTW, I believe if they become a site contributer then they can get in with 0 posts. So if they realy want in there is another way in.
