Will there be positive controls to keep search bots from cataloging the contents? I'd hate to see some of that stuff being returned by a search engine.

I like the 100-post requirement, but also agree with the special dispensation for those that are quiet but have been here from the start or make a special request to be let in. Your judgement is fine for deciding case by case, which you would have to do for a new poster whose thread gets moved.
I don't think dirty laundry needs to be aired in front of the very new.
If we really need a gossipy, back-biting forum, where names are named, that would be The Salon where we could post all kinds of nasty rumors about each other. Let's hope it doesn't come to that!!! All that stinky perm solution ... blech

BTW this forum will also be kind of an Off spring of The Goumba, Goumbete , Members only and Political forumus. Differance here is that it is Co-ed and you can talk about anything even your Sex life if you wish in a more private setting. You will be able to have more R rated to even slight x rated subjects there.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Wow are you all an anxious bunch!
I have aboout 3 requests to join the steam room group already!
The group is not active yet as I need to be careful about permissions and the like... I started workig on it last night and I discovered I had some major site permissions issues that require more time to get fixed...
Once it is running, people will be able to join and leave at their choice... at the moment I am set up to moderate new members as I don't want anybody in the group until the system is ready for them

I have a feeling that this statement, that Frank made, might have something to with it....

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I agree. At least the majority of us (including me) do not have to put up with bashing of others in public.
Since there is a group that feels compelled to do so, this is probably the best compromise available.
I support the decision to have it even though I won't be participating.

Somehow I hear me in some of these comments.
I'm not sure I would particpate in the Steam Room, much as I avoid the Political forum. I do not come OH or OY with the intent to engage in negativity. Really.
The two times I have lost control on TS4Ms, for which I apologize to everyone, is the two times that Admins/Mods/Owner from OY came here to attack users OH, doing stuff they would not let users OH do OY.
I found that grossly unfair and that is what set me off.
If one of the purposes of the Steam Room is to give officials from OY a place to come OH and discuss dissatisfaction with things OY, which from experience I find to be a good way of keeping OY in check (as carolinian and others have acknowledged it has), then keep in mind that if a 100 post count is required to access the forum, then the owner from OY should be made an exception so that he can access it.
If that was one of the purposes for the Steam Room, I'm sure Frank is already thinking that way.
The reason I would not got to the Steam Room if I don't, and I am inclined not to, is because if someone from OY attacks someone from OH in the Steam Room, that is far better than having them do it on a public forum.
I would go as far as to suggest that if anyone attacks anyone anywhere but the Steam Room, that should be prima facie cause for discipline.

Gone to the golf course.
JFYI , This is not about you or about OY. This is about this site moving forward and giving it's members what they want. If you want to be a part of it then fine and opt in. If not that is fine as well. It's not about you, I really don't care one way or the other if you join it or not.
I will say that
I am letting everyone know that any further steamy subject matter will be in the Steam room. If you want to see it then you can Opt in after you made your bones here as far as getting the 100 post Min. If you do not feel this type of forum is for you then you do not have to be a part of it. I know many Friends of mine came into the Goumba room and have not participated because it was not for them to see the things posted there and yes we do have some adult pictures posted there from time to time. They may have offense to the dirty jokes there. I don't know. I do know that some opted out after joining.
If you should make a post that might be considered steamy it will be moved to that forum. If you are a member there then you can keep responding. If you are not a member there you will be unable to respond. If you are not a member there and you continue to come up with steamy dialog that is unfit for the site then maybe it will be time to join in or time to find another site to post your subjects on.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Gone to the golf course.
As far as OY admins and mods coming here to post, they are as welcome as any other poster to post here. I will defend their rights as much as I would anyone else.
Every fight has at least 2 sides. I don't care who is right and who is wrong. One person's attack is another person's defense. It reflects poorly on this site that these threads spin out of control and we don't do anything about it. Up until now, our hands have been tied because we want people to have the freedom to express themselves. Now, when that speech is deemed to be too hostile and hurts the reputation of the site, it can be taken semi-private in the steam room. The debate can continue there. And, others who want to stay out of it can continue to discuss timesharing without being distracted by the occasional tussles.
So I can speak for myself as one of the staff members that this action is a good compromise between the needs of those who want to sound off vs. those who don't.
