  • Don't pump gas on may 15th.

    NO GAS ... on May 15th 2007.

In April, 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th, 2007 all Internet users are asked to not go to a gas station and pump gas in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the Internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the middle eastern oil industry for at least one day.

But wouldn't total revenue for the week or month etc be the same.

I'd support a protest but the economic factor seems doubtful.

I also will not eat beans on the 14th in support of the 15th's No Gas.

Someone emailed me and said instead of having a NO GAS day, we need to pick one gas company, like the largest, which I think is Mobil - Exxon, and noboby buys from them. After few weeks of them not getting any business they will lower thier price to get you back to there stations.

Exactly. Not filling up one day will not make a difference, period. You will consume the same amount of gas whether you fill up or not. Do people really think this will impact the "evil" oil companies one bit?

How about this for an alternative: On May 15th, reduce or eliminate your consumption of gasoline. Get out of your SUVs, mini vans, sports cars, etc. and walk, ride a bike, or just choose not to make that trip to the grocery store, friend's house, etc. Carpool. Tele-commute.

That is the way to make a difference.

Ditto, If they really want to boycott leave the cars home that day. I got rid of 2 of my SUV's last year. I really miss my junk box that I had since 92. I still have an SUV which gets less than 10 MPG in the city. I plan on getting rid of that one next year. I might be going for those new Cross overs. Problem with those is there is not enough room for all my Luggage when we travel.

Hard for us to not gas up on 5/15 as we'll be driving back from VA that day.

Here in Iowa, the central tank supply was empty yesterday causing outages at stations and a 10cent jump in just 2 hours. We expect it could jump more by the weekend which was why we filled up last night before hitting the road FOR Virginia on Friday.

I believe a serious boycott would be to pick one day of every week and stay home. I never buy Exxon Mobil. I'll participate though. Doing something is better than nothing.
It will be a good day to breathe fresh air since Basham will be off the beans.

I'm game. Let's all fill-up on the 14th, so we don't need buy on the 15th. Then, when the price drops .30 overnight, we can all fill-up again on the 16th. But, don't stop there. Let's just keep filling up every second day, and see how low we can drive gas prices.

Hilarious! I haven't heard that one for over 50 years. The way I remember it is:
Beans, Beans, the musical fruit. The more you eat, the more you poot. The more you poot, the better you feel. So let's have beans for every meal!

NO Not one Bit. It will help with standard gas as well. See when we Fart. It is a real killer. So if we are killing each other by farting well then there are less people out there to drive. If there are less people out there to drive then you have more Gasoline. See farting is good.
