I have couple of comments, but I think both of them are not too good

I was going to comment "Hope she gets her jail term in some co-ed prison ... that would teach her "The Simple Yet Real Life" ... " in 45 days... "

The other idea was to have her do a bunch of public information ad campaigns called "Stupidity Stinks" where she and her other multi-billionaire air-head friends talk about what happens when they don't think of the consequences before doing something stupid. Come to think of it, the viewers may associate stupidity with wealth and confuse the heck out of themselves...

... so ... as Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say "...............Never mind!!!"

Um, I'm not sure what you mean by this, but I certainly hope you aren't saying that she deserves to be sexually assaulted

I think that's already happened several times. I'm pretty sure there's even some video of it on the internet.

I think what he's saying is that she needs a real dose of life and the fact there are consequences for you actions. Maybe knock a little common sense into her (figuratively speaking).

Some of these people (very rich, superstars et...) just don't live in the real world. Rules just don't apply to them becasue their special.

I don't think it's stupidity as much as it is a total and abandoned sense of entitlement, by virtue of huge amounts of money...

No, I wasn't saying that. I think she would be treated as a celebrity, with special privileges in a "country club" setting or in a female only prison. Doug said it better:

Stuff gets lost in the mail all the time.

But seriously, it's interesting how everyone rails against a celebrity but could care less about the criminals running this country.

Now we return you to our regularly scheduled topic on Paris Hilton.

Yes, but not generally in the glovebox of the car you are driving.
As an aside, just a note of caution to travellers from the US to Europe. Most countries this side of the pond have far harsher penalties for drink-driving, and certainly for driving whilst disqualified. An offender could end up in prison for a first offence.
The law isn't even-handed over here either though. Plenty of celeb's have got off charges by using a smart lawyer and there was a case in the past few days of a taxi driver not being banned despite a total of 19 penalty points (normal number for automatic ban is 12). He argued that losing his licence would cost him his job. As his penalty points had been for 4 offences of speeding and one of failing to stop after an accident, I would suggest that he really should find a job more suited to his skills anyway.

True, we are harsh on celebrities...but many are craving that attention...it's also not about the money, as many celebrities are known for how well they use it, and it's not her fault she was born into money...she's young and invincible...

                    Bit more info.

Found another news story with more details:
Paris Hilton sentenced to jail for probation violation

                    some excerpts:

Hilton, 26, must go to the Century Regional Detention Center, Los Angeles County's jailhouse for women, on June 5. She will not be allowed any work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail or any electronic monitoring in lieu of jail, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled after a hearing.
                    Heiress to be segregated

Inmates at the detention centre get three low-sodium meals a day, with dinner the only hot meal. Beef and pork aren't permitted — "it's all poultry-based," said Capt. Alice Scott, who oversees the 2,200-inmate facility.

Hilton will be segregated from the general population for her own safety, living in a one- or two-person cell.

Inmates are allowed outside their cells for an hour each day to shower, watch television in the day room, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, Scott said. There is a bank of phones that use prepaid phone cards — cellular telephones and BlackBerries aren't allowed.
As a city prosecutor said during closing arguments that Hilton deserved jail time, Hilton's mother, Kathy, laughed. After the judge handed down his ruling, Kathy Hilton blurted out: "May I have your autograph?"

Hilton was also required to enrol in an alcohol education program by Feb. 12. As of April 17, she had not enrolled, prosecutors said.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. What confused me is that there really is no such thing as a "co-ed prison" (as far as I know.) As a general rule, prisons are either all-male or all-female. There may be a few large prisons that do have both men and women, but they would be in widely separated areas.

As for whether prisons for women are easier places to serve time than prisons for men, prisons for women certainly tend to be safer because they have fewer violent inmates. However, they also tend to have far less available by way of educational and vocational training, so they don't do much to prepare inmates for "life on the outside."

Anyway, Paris Hilton isn't being sent to prison, she's being sent to jail, which is a considerably different environment. Prisons are highly regimented environments used for long-term incarceration and are typically located in remote areas. Jails are used only for short-term lock-ups; they are generally small, in the local area near the prisoners' homes, and often fairly informal. I agree, though, that Paris should go to a regular jail, not a special setting for celebrities. Heck, Martha Stewart was sent to a regular prison, and I still can't figure out what it was she did!

Judy, thanks. As you can see I don't even know the difference between prison and jail and the fact there are no co-ed prisons

I sure hope, at the end of the day this experience helps Ms Hilton realize there are rules she needs to follow.

Not so much harsh as sick and tired of their whinning and getting treated by the system differently than any other "normal" person that has no higher standing in society. As someone else mentioned it's their sense of "entitlement" that drives me nuts.

Come to think of it, that sense of entitlement seems to run at both ends of the spectrum. The truely poor and destitute seem to think that the world owes them a living as well. I guess it sucks being stuck in the middle with both ends telling me I owe them something for who they are or for who they aren't.
