I know they say that, but geez. Even a plastic cork would be classier.

From what this guy was telling us was that the actual real corks are probably the worst.

I know, they say that real cork corks can rot or crumble and fail, exposing the wines to air. But I went on a wine tour near San Francisco at least 20 years ago, and they were saying the exact same thing. The guy then said that plastic corks would be the norm within five years. I think there's just tremendous resistance to screw-tops. Not so much to plastic corks, though. I'm okay with them.

Oh heck, as long as the wine comes out of the bottle, what do you really care?

I finally got to open the Palandri Shiraz, This was a steal. It has to be one of the best bargains we have gotten sio far from them. I hope they put this back up on the 13th. We drank 3 bottles last night with Vikingboy ,so now there is only 3 left.

There is now a $6 wine that I figured for the money can't be bad and if it is I will use it for cooking.

I'm thinking some of these inexpensive wines will be repeated on Wednesday. We took the sauvignon blanc to a friend's house last night and it was really good, although we were laughing at its screwtop.

Cheapskate Wednesday starts in a few minutes

They're putting up a new wine every 1/2 hour from midnite EST til 9 am, then starting at 9, a new wine ever 1/2 hour or when it sells out, whichever comes first.

I won't be around most of tomorrow

I don't even want to look. I have no more room for more wine. I am only buying if it is a real good deal.

In tribute to Wacky, and a testament to the fact that Cheapskate Wednesday is also Wacky Wednesday, the first wine is the Pozzi for $5.99.
