  • So what would constitute bad behaviour??

"Paris Hilton has begun her jail sentence for violating probation on a drink-driving conviction....
The socialite will serve only half of her sentence - about 23 days - after being given credit for good behaviour.....The heiress-turned-pop singer was arrested for driving under the influence last September and was issued probation, which she violated several times by driving with a suspended licence."

The bold/italics are mine, but the question is all in the thread title!!

      Why Should Anyone Care?

Why is she a celebrity? And why should she get special treatment?

Just because she is rich and likes to party? Is that her only "talent"?

Entertainment News - Paris Hilton Checks Into California Jail - AOL News

The "Simple Life" star will be housed in the "special needs" unit of the 13-year-old jail, separate from most of its 2,200 inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates.

"I did have a choice to go to a pay jail," Hilton said Sunday, without giving details. "But I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I'm not and that's why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I'm going to be treated like everyone else. I'm going to do the time, I'm going to do it the right way."

In the UK 'special needs' is used as a euphemism for 'educationally subnormal', so maybe she is going to the appropriate place after all

How appropriate... Nothing like a bit of philosophical anarchy to brighten one's day

Maybe the politicians in her case needs her money to get reelected.

It is very doubtful that Paris had a choice to go to a "pay jail" (whatever that is). Several news people have stated that is probably just "spin" - an attempt by Paris to make herself look good. If she had a choice, I believe she would have taken it. Notice she didn't give any details.

Also, she would probably be in physical danger if they put her in jail with the general population. Her celebrity status makes her a target. If she was attacked and hurt in any way - the city could be sued. I think the city is just trying to protect themselves from possible litigation.
