  • iPod Question on multiple iPods using one itunes

We just purchased another iPod (for my oldest daughter) and now have three in the family. We each use the itunes on our one computer. Each time we hook up an iPod to the computer it will sychonize and update the iPod with all of the songs from the library that have been "checked." However, this means that each iPod gets the same songs unless we individually uncheck and check songs that each of us wants. How do we somehow maintain a separate list of "checked" songs for each iPod? For example, if I want to update my iPod, it is a pain to have to uncheck the songs my daughter has selected for her iPod. Does anybody have a solution to this issue on multiple iPods with one itunes? Thanks. Tim

Hi Tim...I'm no ipod expert, but we have all our accounts on one computer..with the exception of the fact that each one is under a different user screen. Do you have different user screens set up? If not, and you do that, you can have a different itunes list for each user.

      Tim,

Go into your preferences I think, and set your itunes so that it does not automatically sync when you connect an ipod. Then you manually chose the songs you want to add to your ipod. It will not have all of the songs checked each time.

You can definitely have multiple ipods on one itunes. I know because I have an ipod and so does my son. All of our songs are ripped into one itunes. My 10 year old son figured out how to do it. So, it shouldn't be that hard to do at all.

When your 10 year can do it, that's the norm.

When Mom or Dad can do it, then it's "not hard to do at all."

The easiest thing to do is make diferent playlists for each user.
With your IPod plugged in you can change the IPod settings on which folder/playlist to import from. This can be set to automatic sync or not.
