  • There's a first time for every thing.

Well when my son got his drivers Licensee I knew the next step was to get a steady girlfriend. I also knew that one day if he really liked her she would be breaking bread at our table. The time is now, Guess who is eating over tonight? I only met her briefly for under a minute the other day. My wife said to be nice you never know. But I am always nice, My problem is making an ass of myself which I do pretty darn good. I am sure we all are going to be nervous tonight. I can't even offer them wine to ease the tension.

No matter how nervous you are, she is guaranteed to be moreso! Just don't offer her a cigar and you will be fine .

OK it's over and of coarse I am sure we are all still hungry. No one pigged out, Everyone took small amounts of food to show that we are not hugs. So now we will be eating left overs this whole week. She is very talkative which made everyone feel comfortable. I broke the ice when I offered her Sangria and my wife right away jumped down my neck. Me and my son did a high five cause he knew I was kidding. She is only 16 but my wife was only 14 when we started dating. I can tell they really like each other so you never know. I admit I did not act like myself so she has no idea yet how much fun I can be. I hate when I have to behave.

Too young to drink wine. I don't think they worry about that in Italy.

I'll bet you that she is a girl you will approve of because your son seemed to be a nice young fellow himself when I met him. You only hope that it isn't too serious yet as they are much too young. Just be yourself and you will have a nice dinner together.

I remember how worried you were about him getting his driver's license and that worked out OK.

I missed this post as the dinner is already over. I didn't see it coming in as I am doing other stuff while the the window is open. No wonder that Jackie said to be nice if she was 14 when she started dating you.

I remember when we had my first serious boyfriend over for dinner. It was very stressful for all of us.

I also remember the first time I met his mother. He was worried because I'd worn sandals and I guess he thought they were risque'. Like most young people, he didn't pay much attention to the clothes is mother wore - she had sandals on too.

I'm glad it went well, Frank.

                    Frank,
Glad everything went well, but I figured it would. Remember, if you were nervous just think how nervous she probably was. I seem to remember that meeting a girlfriends parents was way up on the list of anxiety producing events!!!
