Sorry, but I disagree. (BTW - I never go into the LMR board so I have no idea what was edited out.)
As I see it, the LMR board is strictly for offers of LMR, not for discussion. Tangents and OT comments on that Board have generally been policed more tightly than have posts on other Boards.
Had Denise made the same comment in the Lounge, for example, with a link back to the thread I seriously doubt that the comments would have been edited and the thread closed.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”
split the thread; less chance of ticking off posters...
Steve, Is there no concept of splitting a thread when the moderator realizes the thread had gone off topic, and by simply splitting the thread off and giving the fun/funny people there own little thread to hang out?
I would think it would be a nice goodwill gesture...

I agree - I don't know how much work is involved with that.
Jim Beasley had a post the other day about "awfulling". Might this not be a good place to apply that concept?

The funny people have got to have a place to hang out!!

I wonder why the discussions lasted all day long...and continue to be left alone LMR Thread
[BTW, I am glad this thread is not chopped off like others... I think unless the threads pose some sort of major threat, they should be left alone!]

Hey Tony, by "this thread" I meant the one on TUG ... not this one
Yes, I do like the fact very little moderating happens over here. Refreshing
