A 70-year-old US woman has been left bruised and bloody after an unexpected clash with police who came to arrest her because her lawn was dry and brown. Trouble flared when Utah pensioner Betty Perry, 70, refused to give her name to an officer trying to caution her for not watering her lawn.

She was arrested for not watering her lawn??? Utah is in the middle of a desert!

Sheesh, no wonder the western US has water shortages!

Going dormant in the summer is perfectly normal for most types of grass. (Including basically all grass in dry areas.) Why fight Mother Nature? You're sure to lose in the long run!

In my area they can issue a ticket if you water on the wrong day!!! We have odd/even watering days in the summer..

My town has an ongoing outside water ban. Hopefully once the water plant is finished, that will end. But my DH loves it when the lawn gets "crunchy" and he doesn't need to mow.

A lot of people in my neighborhood have their inground sprinklers on automatic timers. It kills me to see their lawns being watered the mornings after it has poured all night. What a waste of water!

As of July 1 we have a complete ban on watering gardens except with a bucket. Oddly, it is the middle of winter here, bitterly cold and pouring with rain .

                  Me too.

I have completely ignored my lawn, flower pots, & yard, this year. The weeds are loving me, tho.

I have been having too much fun traveling, to be bothered with it. I didn't realize that I was possibly breaking the law. Whodda thunk.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
