  • Heat!

We don't live in a desert, but the forecast for the next seven days is all 105-ish. Wow!

And it is not even a dry heat.

Right now with the air temperature 95, the heat index is 107!

It doesn't hlep much to jump in the lake. It is 92 and rising!

Tell me why am I working at the golf course again.

Right now it is 99º here, but the heat index is "only" 93º. It must be very humid where you are. Our humidity right now is 14º, which is high for us (except if there is a monsoon, of course).

We just came back from Las Vegas and Phoenix and it felt much better there with the low humidity than it does here in San Diego when it's 80 at the beach. Even with the monsoons it seemed to feel better there.

San Diego is changing and it seems there is higher humidity here than there used to be.

Well, here in Tulsa, the temp is 100+ with high humidity. Luckily, the PGA is across the street and we can stay in and watch it on tv. The traffic around our neighborhood is too heavy to try to get out! Come on September!

50's and rain yesterday here, but it's up to about 80 today and mostly sunny.

Ugh and I thought the eastcoast was bad for humidity and heat. I am not moving to Missouri or Oklahoma if that is what you get on a regular basis.

It was horrid here last Tuesday and Wednesday but today was gorgeous. We have been pretty lucky this summer.

San Francisco and its summer time.

For July 29 through August 5th we were at the Coronado Beach Resort. Never got under 60 or over 80 (Life was Rough). Hey its about 100 today in Bakersfield. But for the last week we have had temps in the 80's. I almost tried to sell my house as beachfront property but it warmed back up.,

I was watching the early rounds at Southern Hills this morning and the golfers looked cool and crisp on TV. I knew that wasn't the case so I checked Tulsa when I checked here. The Heat Index there was 105.

We have a tournament this weekend, State Farm and Red Cross. That seems appropriate, with the red Cross providing plenty of drinking water. I went in at 4:00 and the older cart attendant looked horrible. He had just washed and turned over 42 carts for the second shotgun start.

For some reason the heat did not bother me today.

                        Heat Redux

Just back from Boston, where the weather was much cooler. Stepping off the plane in Nashville after a week of moderate weather was rough!!
It will be in the 100s here next week also.
Am posting pictures of Fenway Park also.
JLB, perhaps the extreme heat will thin out the OF crop?

The ones in our neighborhood are not country club types, and the ones at the country club are all very nice. But, by the time they get to 18 they have been looking pretty bad lately.

Most of the guys at the club play at least four times a week in scheduled play, plus their open rounds. I've been telling them they need a room with a couple of pool tables, TVs and beer, and do that on the really hot days.

Some relief this week, though, cuz' we have a four-day Pro-Am Champions tournament.

The lake has run out of cool, if that's possible.

Today the water temp is 94 and the air temp over 100. In or out of the water it is hot. That cool pocket down by your feet is gone.

But, we got pup a life vest today, and she swam to the bank and came back out to us for the first time.

JLB, hope your tournament runs as smoothly as the PGA did. They did treat 300 people in 5 days for heat problems, but most were on the minor side. I will keep my fingers crossed for a cold front to come through.
