I am haunted by the image of my brother walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, crying, covered in ash. But at least he was able to do that.
My husband, and brother also walked over the Brooklyn Bridge to safety. It was hours, and hours, before I heard from either of them. I cried, and then thanked God, when I finally heard from my husband, and then again, for my brother.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thank you Ken ~~ that was beautiful, so moving. The only good thing about that day was the phone call from my Marine son from Quantico, before they headed to The Pentagon - to say "I love you".

        GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Thanks for posting this Ken. I cried all the way to work today listening to CNN.

Bless the NYC Police and Fire Deparment, the ironworkers, medical staff , shop owners and those that traveled from all over the world to help those in need.

My prayers go out to the familes who lost so much on this terrible day. Those who lost their lives and those that lived through the terror taught us what freedom means. Those that assisted them taught us what America stands for.

Thank you, Ken, for helping us remember this day and the heroes that rose to serve others selflessly. Sometimes giving their lives, unfortunately.

I will, we will, never forget! It is burnt into our memory for all time.

My wife and I were at our lake cabin, raking and doing fall clean-up. My pick-up was in the way so when I moved it, the radio came on and the local talk-show talking head was on and talking about the attack. I listened for over 30minutes...about an hour after the attack...before I could figure out what was going on. For most of the time the talk show host was trying to figure out who to lay blame on i.e. George W., Rumsfield etc. Finally, he re-capped the event. Being a full-time Air National Guard technican at the time, I called work and they said get your ass in here asap (I was the Command Post Supervisor at the time). I was on "active duty" for the next two years. A bit of a jolt when you're 54 years old.
Alas, I was never in danger but was very involved in events thereafter. Our fighter squadron in Fargo, ND has/had an alert detachment at Langley AFB, VA. It was our jets that were scrambled to the Pentagon and had orders to "shoot down" civilian airliners if required. I just saw one of the Pentagon pilots Saturday night. Hadn't seen him since I retired. I have an autographed painting that was commissioned by the Pentagon that shows our two F-16's circling over a burning Pentagon building. We often forget the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania crash.

Oh by the way: The talking head trying to lay blame, an hour after 9/11 has now become a big time national talk show idiot. His name is Ed Schultz. Having lived in Fargo for about 25 years before my retirement...I can tell you lots of stories...and most are true about him.

God bless the troops and thank-you for starting this post.

                    Thanks for the reminder.

We can be so thankful we are not living where shelling and bombing is rampant.

I often wonder what I have contributed to maintain freedoms of life, not only at home, but also around the world. The one thing we all could do, radiate love to others.

This was in an email, received this morning. I'll share it. http://www.snopes.com/glurge/nodesks.asp

9-11-2008 My Prayers Again during these morning hours

Another year passes and my Flag flies with both pride and sorrow on another anniversary.

May those that left this world before us on this dreadful day know that we remember them and we all sincerely pray that we never experience an event like this again.

                        Ken,
Thank you for directing us all to that beautiful tribute and memory. The longer I watched, the harder I cried. God Bless America.

I am thinking of you today who witnessed this evil act in person and of the families too who lost a loved one. Let's hope it will never happen again. I like your banner, Ken.

No. Personally I will never, ever forget. I only hope to heal and I pray for all those families from that day forward that have paid the highest price to keep us secure.

Thank you for the pictures and link! In memory of my high school and college friend, Dave Prium, who was working on the 103rd floor of the South Tower. I'll never forget....
