  • Background Checks

Has anyone used a website to do background checks? If so, which one and what did you think? My youngest daughter has been looking for a job and has been turned down a couple of times, in our town that we lived in Missouri there were two other girls with her first and last name and we want to check and see if any of their information shows up in her records.

Most of those websites have a cost associated with them. You could do a general search, but to get the info you are looking for it is usually fee based.
I know when my company does background checks, they usually look at criminal hx and credit history.

A credit history check would be a good place to begin - she is entitled to one free credit report per year. Just google Credit report and it will come up for you. I have a friend whose sister in law has the same name and boy has that been tricky (the SIL is a disaster, my friend is entirely responsible). It has made for some interesting family gatherings....and she has an atty on retainer to fight the incorrectly posted credit blemishes. As if life weren't complicated enough......

citicredit.net does background checks for a fee:

Employment screening criminal history, employee background check, state criminal record, county criminal record, employee credit report, driving reports and more.

I used them before for tenant screening.

We used 1800USSearch for a nanny background check once. I used it b/c my nanny did not want me to give out her SS# and they were able to do a pretty complete criminal/court/drivers license search without it. It did not include a credit check.
