    Frank,

    Rego Smoked Fish
Have you ever been there? Is it still open, the owner Conrad Spizz died, but they had the best smoked salmon anywhere(Lox).

    6980 75th St.,
    Middle Village, NY, United States

I have called the number but it is always busy.

The Rego Smoked Fish Company, tucked into a small backwater at Cooper Avenue and 75th Street, is well-known for its smoked lox, sturgeon and whitefish.

Here is a NYT article from 2000 about Middle Village.

Believe it or not, I do not eat fish so I would not have gone there. But I enjoyed reading the 2nd link you posted.

WHEN Anthony Marchese returned to Middle Village, Queens, after living in adjoining Glendale, he came back to the community where he grew up and where he has strong family roots.

He and his wife, Barbara, and their two sons, 2 and 7, moved in January into their new home, a brick semiattached house on 61st Road, just minutes from the house on 69th Lane where Mr. Marchese's parents, Blase and Marie, live with his widowed grandfather Anthony Marchese. His two married sisters, Marie Hoyt and Gina Lynaugh, also live close by.

Mr. Marchese, who is the Queens borough superintendent for New York City's Department of Environmental Protection, said he and his wife had looked at other neighborhoods where housing costs were lower -- the reason they had been living in Glendale for seven years. But even though their new home cost $350,000, they settled on Middle Village because it was a ''close-knit community,'' Mr. Marchese said.

FYI Anthony Marchese passed on about 4 months ago. Both he and his Son are members of the Our lady of Hope Holy name and now his grand son as of a month ago is a member. There is a good chance you will meet his son Blase at the wine tasting this month. Anthony Marchese even at his age loved to sing. I enjoyed hearing him sing When Irish eyes are Smiling every month at the meetings.

Or do you not eat smoked fish?

You must eat fish? (Shrimp, Lobster, Calamari, Scungilli)?

My DH won't touch fish either.

I don't do smoked. More of a nova girl than lox. Growing up in Forest Hills it kinda rubs off, even on the goyim.

and there is nothing wrong with Glendale.
