I thought i would share a story that happened to a coworker of mine this past week.
She wants to go to Puerto Vallarta this July with her family. She was searching the web and came upon a great deal on Orbitz so she selected it.
When she placed her CC info in, it said that there was a problem with her credit card, so she called the CC company who stated there was no problem.
So she again went back to orbitz and put in the same info again and again the same issue. She again called the CC company who stated there was no problem with her card, BUT, there were approximately 6K in charges on her account from Orbitz and Worldspan (associated somehow with Orbitz) . None of which were for the amount of the trip she was trying to book. There was also another fee that the CC company stated was a fee that Orbitz applies as a hold on the account, for what, it was never explained. The CC company stated that have had several complaints related to Orbitz.
So she calls Orbitz and she doesn't have a reservation number because of the CC problem and they her they can't help her....anyway 2 days and 5 hours of phone calls; it gets resolved.
I personally have used Orbitz for airline tickets without issue several times, but I don't know if I should after listening to her ordeal. Maybe it's just with vacation packages, which I don't think I would use.
Anyway, just check your bill for accuracy if you do use Orbitz
