In real life, it's a LOT easier to tell. Especially because male cross-dressers are so often about 6'7".

You guys must've missed the World's Most Beautiful Transsexual Pageant in Las Vegas... I saw the broadcast, now there's a documentary about it, it's running a lot on E I think. That must be why I got 13 out of 16

Shemales are normally transsexual (as Glitter referenced in her post) or sometimes (right or wrongly) referred to as hermaphrodites. These are not cross dressers.

That being said, I finally got to sit down to try this. Even though I am too old and married and can’t chase women anymore, I still know what they are…I got 14 out of 16!

My wife tried, got 4 out of 9 before quitting because they were ‘too gross’.
