  • Woman killed by Stingray

Did you hear about the woman from Michigan who was vacationing at Marathon Florida and was out in a boat. A Stingray flew up out of the water and hit her. They aren't sure if her death was called by the stingray or by the fall when she fell backward after being stung by the Sting Ray.

    What a fluke!!!

There will be an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The woman's husband and children were with her on the boat. Can you imagine being on vacation and having something like that happen.

Bluegreen has a timeshare in Marathon, I sure hope it wasn't anyone I know. What a terrible thing to have happen on vacation.

I saw this story on CNN. It's totally freakish, isn't it? Does this kind of sting ray usually jump up out of the water like this? It sounds like nature biting back.

This will not deter my trip to Stingray City tomorrow and I'm not showing this to any of the family members going with me.

I won't post a picture of me with a stingray and try to say they are friendly.

I thought we saw that picture?

I was amazed when I say rays of some type at St. Augustine. Mating season is what I was told. They were small, but...wow, so cool.

I had heard the woman was not stung, but being hit by a 500 pound flying ray did the damage.

Last I heard, they didn't know the exact cause of death, only that ole Stingie played a role in it. He's guilty no matter what - he hit her or stung her.

I held a stingray in my arms for about 10 minutes for the people to touch while a crew member held another this morning. She was beautiful about 3.5 feet across with caramel colored eyes.

                  There is nothing to fear.

When I was watching the news this AM one of the people who was investigating said that the boat and the stingray were moving toward each other and they just connected when the stingray flew up out of the water. It was the force of the two objects travelling toward each other at fast speeds. The poor woman was just the victim of a freak accident. They said on the news that the woman was not stung in any way.
The problem with real life is that there is no background music.

Never would have thought of looking into the eyes of a stingray or manta ray and noting the color of the eyes.

She was at about chest height for quite some time. Any longer and I would have named her too.

If the ray was that content being held at chest height, are you sure it was female??
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                          “You shouldn't wear that body.”
