  • Converter boxes for digital TV

If you requested a $40 coupon from the government for the Digital TV converter box purchase, please note that there is an expiration date on them. Ours expires in May so we're going to be looking into getting the box soon so that they aren't sold out. There are limited models and limited retailers participating in the offer.

Also keep in mind that the box will only be needed for over the air reception. Those with cable or satellite will not need the boxes.

I have seen converter boxes available at Walmart (RCA and Magnavox) and Circuit City (Zenith) in the $49 to $59 range. I applied for the $40 coupon 2 months ago but have not received it yet.

I got my coupons, but the box I want is not available yet. This kind of irks me, as there is a list of approved models on the FCC website, but only a few are actually available. As another poster pointed out, the coupons have an expiration date.

Yes, the DTV converters I've seen are the basic kind, no S-video outputs. Some seem to have an RF pass-through mode, some don't. Which model were you interested in?
