Isagenix is great. I recommend it too. When our daughter got married, my sister had me try a cleanse for two days, then I drank 2 shakes and ate one healthy lunch every day for 5 days, then another 2 days, I did another cleanse. I didn't get hungry, but that is because there are these large tablets, Isagenix calls them "snacks," and one of those every few hours was enough to keep me going.

Too bad I didn't stay on that diet. It was four years ago, and I should have kept it up. The only thing I didn't like was the incorporation of the shakes in my diet, as it seems you must do it for a lifetime. I gained the weight back, pretty much as soon as I stopped the diet. I lost a total of 35 pounds and now I need to lose that much again, and a little more, maybe I need to lose 45 now. I wouldn't mind dieting again like that, but I think it would be difficult to keep with the shakes forever, except as midday snacks.

One thing I liked was the shakes, the chocolate are excellent, much better than the ones Rick drinks by EAS.

Today we got started riding our bicycles again. It is a step in the right direction. Then it was a dinner of vegetables and fruit only. Delicious.

I found a great way for using Push ups.

Now the bad news, We both gained a lot of weight back in this one weeks AI vacation. I more than doubled what my wife gained. But starting this Monday we start to diet again.

Dieting is such a hard thing to do and I hope you will succeed. I am not familiar with Isagenx either but looked it up. Here is the web site.

We like Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar which helps with weight loss too and has other benefits. I like the taste and it is a good pick-me-up for me when I am tired. It seems to help immediately. You can buy it at the health food store and it isn't expensive either.....
Thanks for the suggestions, and the support! I have tried cider vinegar, but it gives me heartburn. I might try Frank's idea of getting cider vinegar pills from Puritan's Pride. There isn't any real research saying that vinegar helps (I have checked), but it's generally safe (other than the heartburn issue), so it should be OK to try it.

Bragg's also makes a product called "Liquid Aminos" that I've been interested in trying. I'm not sure if it has enough amino acids to really do anything, but I've heard it makes a nice lower sodium substitute for soy sauce.

I checked out the Isagenx link. This product seems to have a lot of different herbs in it, and I generally don't take anything until I go to the primary medical literature and check out its safety thoroughly, so it will be awhile until I get around to trying this (if at all.) The good news is, though, that I've now lost 40 pounds. This is the goal that I set for myself, so now I can switch to a maintenance plan and eat somewhat more. Hopefully, this will help with the hunger problems.

Losing 40 pounds doesn't bring me down anywhere near what the height/weight charts say I should weigh (in fact, I would have to lose 20 pounds more just to technically qualify as "overweight" instead of "obese"), but I feel that this is enough weight loss for health reasons. Losing more weight would mostly be to improve my looks. My doctor agrees and I got a letter from her to give to Weight Watchers saying that my current weight loss is enough. Weight Watchers has accepted it, and if I can stay at this weight, after for 6 weeks I will be a "Lifetime Member" and be able to go to their meetings for free.

I just checked this thread -- thanks for the congrats! In four weeks, have to weigh in at no more than 2 pounds above goal. If I can do that, I become a lifetime member. (To keep going to meetings for free, though, lifetime members have to weigh in once a month at no more than 2 pounds above goal.)

Because of this thread I bought isagenix. I am on day 2 of the cleanse. Wow this is really hard. I did not think the two precleanse days were hard, with the shakes and the one meal but the cleanse/drink only days are tough!!!
If anyone has any tips I would really appreciate it! I have to get through today without eating! I feel pretty determined as have been getting disgusted with my recent weight gain for a while but...............

Congrats, When I start out I think about it for a week before just thinking about it gets me rev-ed up and ready for it. I try to do it on days that I can sleep late and try to get to bed early. I all so buy something I hate for diner like fish so I will not miss it when my family eats. Honestly but I do not get hungry when I cleanse because I use more water with the 4 shots of cleanse and it blows me up. I also take at times more of those snakes but do not go past 8 a day, I also take 2 at a time.

As you might know I was away in an all inclusive about 3 weeks ago in Cancun, Well with 3 meals all you can east for a week it killed me. I gained back 25 lbs in a week. The good news is I lost half of that in a week with out even trying. I think it might have been water because there food was salty and I tend to blow up from that. NOW I just got back from Cigar fest this week and I ate good but did not over do it. I watched my carbs for the most part and might have only put on maybe 4 or 5 LBS. NOW next week is Tough we are going to Montauck. I know I will be gaining so I am going to watch this week and am getting ready for my Cleansing as soon as I get back. I promised my wife a strict diet after I return from Gurney's.

It is amazing when I can not eat anything I am realizing how much of my time and thinking is spent on food. Grocery shopping, cooking, menu planning, eating, planning on eating, etc etc etc. I am trying really hard to just stay away from all food today. The only problem is I have to make supper for my family tonight and I like everything!
Frank, so do you not drink any wine on your shake days? I am just not so sure I can make it through 11 days,(two precleanse, 9 day program) without ANY wine. I really think I will need a glass on Saturday night to make it through next week. Will that ruin everything??

Just wondering, do these programs (shakes, cleanse, anything else) affect blood pressure? I am already taking pills and don't want to push me over the edge.

                            Frank,
What should I do about the wine? Will it ruin everything?

I do not know anything about the blood pressure, mine is still pretty good so have not worried about that, yet.
