On April 13, 2005, I called our resort and paid the 2007 fees for our three weeks, telling them I wanted to Spacebank them with RCI. They debited our credit card account on 4/14/05. I immediately deposted our Weeks 10 and 11, and when July arrived I deposited our Week 30.
Because I was curious how much we had paid for each of our January exchanges, I contacted our resort in December to see how the lump-sum charge on 4/14/05 had been apportioned. When I received the statements I found it strange that none of them had the credit balance you would expect to see when you are paid two years ahead.
They said we weren't paid two years ahead. In fact, we weren't even paid for 2006.
Damn!
There has been some turnover and the person I always dealt with, the head of the owners office, is no longer there.
We went back and forth a few rounds, me saying I have deposited our weeks and paid our fees ahead of time and can match deposit acknowledgements and credit card charges, and them saying no I didn't.
Being my mother's son, I pulled out all my records. I sent them documentation of everything that has happened since 1992. The dates I deposited to RCI (with the corresponding payments to the resort on or about the same date), the payments I made for weeks in the rental program on or about when they were due, all of our correspondence back and forth.
Way back when I found where they had credited a payment to the wrong account. Then there is a period around 2000-2003 where RCI cannot give me specific information and the resort was not using our account numbers, but meaningless Hotel Folio numbers, so my records are meaningless. I cannot reconcile those years.
I did see the possibility that I did not pay our fees for 2005 for a week we had in the rental program. I definitely paid 2006 and 2007, at the time when I Spacebanked them, but I believe someone used one of those payments for 2005, so that when that week (30) arrived they did not bill me for it in the rental program.
It's been two weeks since I sent them my study and I haven;t heard a thing, not even an acknowledgement that they received it.
We are now at the point when I want to pay for and deposit 2008.
Perhaps that since our fees are so low they feel we should pay them double, or triple, or quadruple! If they were double they would still be below average.
