  • Our first big storm of the season

We are in the basement now, Weather Radio and sirens keeps going off with tornado warning and thunderstorm warnings.

Went back upstairs, small hail, heavy rains.

Tomatoes went in on Friday, flower plants went in today. Looks (from the window) the tomatoes may be flattened.

Hopefully this will pass soon. I have a beautiful steak that I want to put on the grill.

Asked the wife 'would you rather be camping or are you happy you own timeshare?'. She is very happy to own timeshare and not be out camping on a day like this.

The news of the aftermath has come in. One 2 year old child died, 9 hurt, about 50 homes destroyed in one small town a half hour north of the Twin Cities. Other towns had hail damage from hail up to softball size. Most was pea size to quarter size. In Minnesota, there were over 30 tornadoes. Not all touched down to do damage, but that was a rough few hours for the state.

Many other states were hit by this day of storms. Thoughts and best wishes to all who have lost loved ones or had loss of property.

We've been seeing some severe weather right along with you here in KS. Our daughter and her fiance are actaully out camping in this stuff. Personally, I think they're nuts. I don't know about last night but Friday they're tent was flattened and they were sleeping (or trying to) sleep in water. One the tents used for shelter is ruined and un-fixable. Saturday night the couple they're with had to leave their tent and sleep in the car as their tent was flattened by the winds. Last night we have heavy rains and high winds. We told them they were in for the same Monday night but they showed no interest in packing up and leaving.

I'll give them this, they are persistant if not desperate to go camping. We'll take our timeshare's vs their tents any day. If it were me I'd have packed up that first night before the storms hit and would have been home safe in my own bed.

          Oh, to be young again....
But, I'm with you. I probably would have checked the forecast before even going...
We are currently in NW Arkansas staying at Table Rock Landing. Nice place, but the thunderstorms.....whew!

I did not hear this on the news last night, did they report it in NY or did I miss it. Glad you and your family are safe.
