  • ? memory stick recording

What size memory stick would I need to record for 30 minutes?

My Sony still-camera takes mpg movies.
I checked, and a 42-second movie that I took takes up 15,225 KB on the hard drive.
So at least at that compression, (15,225/42)*60*30= 652 MB for 30 minutes.
I don't know if a movie camera would be any different.

So it seems like you need at least a 1 GB memory stick!

I know my camera's memory capacity depends on the quality of the pictures. If I have the camera settings on high quality, which I usually do, the memory stores xx number of pictures, but if I lower the pixels, I can double the number of pictures saved.

I would think that video works the same way...but since I don't video it may not apply.

You could always call a camera shop to check what capacity you need
