First Motorcycle

Hi all!,

I am looking at buying cruiser style motorbike. This will be my first road bike. I had dirt bikes years ago! I have been looking at the Yamaha V Star 1100 and the Kawasaki Vulcan 900.

Do any of you fellow TS4M'ers have any suggestions on what I should be looking at or staying away from.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

My wife and I plan on riding 2-up on weekends and it will be a commuter bike during the week, weather permitting.

I bought a 1993 Kawasaki 1500 Nomad last year. DW & I both love it. Since we live about 10 miles out of town, the saddlebags lets us stop at the store while we're out. Also, it's a couple of inches longer than Pre-2007 HD, so a little better ride.

I have been on both of those bikes. Great bikes, especially for the money.

I'd suggest getting a few motorcycle magazines and reading the detailed reviews.

I'm still riding my 1100 honda shadow Aero. 45,000 miles and never to the shop except for tires.

That Nomad mentioned is a great highway cruiser.

Buying any of these biikes used, with low miles will save you a bundle.
