  • Floor creeper advice

My SIL is having a birthday soon and would like a new floor creeper. He lost his when they moved to the new house.
What do you think are the most important features to have? Is it low clearance, head adjustment or another feature I am not familiar with?

I haven't looked for creepers in a long time, so I have to go on past experience. The one I bought was inexpensive, and that is how it is-cheap.

I think most of them will be about the clearance. The back and head issues are what is a concern. You want them to have padding to give more comfort while laying under a greasy car getting dirt in your eyes.

Wheels are usually angled allowing them to roll easily and change direction. They have to glide easily or you end up fighting the creeper to move.

Little goodies like a tray to hold parts or tools are nice, if they are located where a person can get them.

Best I can do for now, hope it helps.

Other things you may think of in the same line: good rolling stool with seat height adjustment, jack stands, ramps, hydrolic jack. All good items needed for car repair.

Thanks...I didn't think about a place for little parts. I'm going to check them out today and see if the clearances are about the same, if so, then I will check the other options, like headrest. I saw online there's one that elevates the head a little, but, how much headroom is there under a car if it's not on a lift is the other question.

        What is a floor creeper?

When I first read the title I thought "rugrat".

It's that rolling thing that you lie in order to get under the car to check the car or to fix what's wrong with them.

Guess that would be well before the stage of 'curtain climber'.

OH! OK. So I'm guessing SIL is "son" in law and not "sister" in Law?

You can tell I'm easily confused lately.

Okay, doing more search and I may have lied to you.

I can't find a creeper with the tool holder. Seats-yes, they have the tool and part holder, but not the creepers. I thought for sure there were models like that. I did find creepers for over $200. I think that may be a bit much.

As a reference, you can look at the site below, but I think I would also check local (Sears, Pep Boys, etc)

Creepers - ToolSource - 30,000 automotive tools online. Fast Delivery, Friendly service, Secure on-line ordering.

Okay...I just went to Amazon and found a plastic (not as comfortable) model with the tool tray.

Guess it will be up to you to find out what you want.
