  • Bought a new car and did I pay the price

I know I am not suppose to buy a new car as soon as it comes out but I could not wait. My lease was up this month on my Lincoln truck and I wanted to stay with Lincoln. I have never in my life paid close to sticker but this time they got me on what might be next years car of the year the Lincoln MKS. I got it with every toy there is. I was thinking of going for the Audi Convertible but of all people my Son talked me out of it.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

All the Audi's I've seen seem to have problems- may have been a good choice.

        Nice...

I just got a new car, too. I got a Grand Caravan SXT. It has many of the goodies yours has (but not all) and some yours doesn't. Its much more "loaded" than any other car I've ever owned. It has the backup camera like yours, and of course I got the "Stow N Go" that Alan talks so much about. It only has eight way power seats, unlike your twelve, but for a shortie like me it also has power adjusting pedals, so I can make them higher for me. It also has a 20 gig hard drive in the sound system, with jukebox features, so I can set it up like my ipod.

Mine has an "unkey," or so I call it. It is a fob that goes into a slot, not a key. It has a chip in it, and once I remove it, the car won't start again unless I put my key or my husband's in it. A generic key won't work, and you can't punch the steering column, etc.

Use your car in the best of health, Frank.

          WOW! Good luck with it.

Will your son be allowed to drive it?

I told my wife today that I do not want him driving this car. Right now he is sharing a 2 year old Caddy with my wife that is killing me every time he takes it. He will be going a way to collage next month so I will not have to worry about it much longer.

What really stinks is that my wife is taking the new car and I end up with the 2 year old hand me down Caddy which no one likes anyway but me. The car has to many blind spots and stinks in the winter.

Frank and Fern, enjoy the new cars. You both helped the US economy so you did a good deed. Drive it safely many years!

Put some air freshener in it to get rid of that cheap cigar smoke.

When I think of all the really wonderful classic cars I could buy with what they are charging for new cars these days, I don't think there is any chance I would go for a new one. One can buy a nice Jag XKE hardtop, Jag Mark II, or Jag Mark IX, '65 Mustang convertible, or many '60s muscle car convertibles for what a run of the mill new car would cost these days. I even saw one several years ago that I had never seen except in pictures that would be great to drive, but I didn't have the garage space for, at a classic car auction in Charlotte, a 1949 Armstrong-Siddeley Hurricane convertible, that went well under what many new cars were going for.

Classic cars have much better looks and much simpler drive trains.

The only new car I would probably consider buying would be a new Morgan roadster, but then again Morgan hasn't changed its body style since 1935 so it is still a good looking car. Adding the Rover V-8 engine in the 1960s gave it a lot more power. But then the waiting list for Morgan's from the factory in Malvern Hills, UK are usually well over a year from the time it is ordered. see "Morgan Aero 8, Morgan Plus 8, new and used Morgan cars for sale from Isis Imports Ltd." or Morgan Motor Company Home Page

Gorgeous car Frankie. We must be blood brothers. Tomorrow i'm putting a deposit down on a Lexus ES350, with all the toys. I guess us Piasans love the toys. We need to meet, have a cigar and check out our new toys.
