  • Need photo(s) for timeshare guide

    Hi everyone!

I am in the very final steps of writing a guide to timesharing that I will be self-publishing in a few weeks. It's full of consumer-oriented advice and recommends that people join TUG and TS4Ms, buy resale, etc. I've put a lot of effort into this and feel it's a great project that will benefit a lot of people new to timesharing or who own a timeshare and want to get the most out of it.

Anyway, I'm currently typesetting the guide and need a couple of copyright-free photos. Instead of buying something "generic" from a photo company I thought it'd be more fun to invite submissions from folks here, and you will be given a full photo credit in the guide if I choose your photo.

The main picture I need is something in color for the front cover. It should be good resolution and show a timeshare resort by the ocean with palm trees, ideally with a glimpse of the pool. Something like that. I copied this photo from the Internet that gives a pretty good feel for what I'm looking for, and you can access it here:

Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket

I would use this very photo except I need to be able to give a credit to the photographer and not infringe on copyright.

I would also like to get a couple of decent photos of condo interiors showing just how nice these places can be. A view from a nice clean kitchen into a living/dining room would be good (should have nice lighting and no mess) and also a view from a bedroom into an ensuite bathroom with a roman tub.

Anyway, let me know if you have something suitable and I'll follow up with you. Photo Bucket is a good place for posting such items for sharing, and it's free, so use that or something similar if you can as I imagine sharing photos through this website might pose technical challenges.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Not for anything, and no offense meant, but if you are writing a book about timeshares, I would expect that you have visited any number of them, to support your expertise...and then wouldn't you have photos yourself?
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

Actually, I have lots and lots of photos from having visited many resorts, but most are "people" shots -- I don't make a habit of taking photos of empty condos, etc. I'm looking for something very special for the cover here -- nothing I have on hand really "does it" for me. So, everyone, think about what you might have that's a great resort photo that captures the feel for what the best resorts are like. I prefer something with palm trees and water, to capture that feeling of getting away from it all...

You have our permission too if you see something you like. Smugmug has original size pictures but Picture Trail does not. I have seen many of my pictures used already in rental and or timeshare sale web pages and I take it as a compliment as I know I took them myself but people really should ask permission first out of courtesy and I don't need it from you.

I don't need credit as I have the original images stored on a CD by date but do not copyright our photo image, please.

Okay, I am wrapping this up. Thank you everyone who participated in my little contest. The top honors go to iconnections -- thank you! I am going to make use of one of your photos for the cover of my guide! (And one or two shots for inside, to illustrate what a typical high-end timeshare condo looks like.) You are a very talented photographer, and the images I downloaded were excellent resolution, composition and color density. The shot I chose was from your Puerto Neuvo series where one is looking over top of three deck chairs across an infinity pool toward the ocean, with a palapas and other deck chairs in the distance. There were other shots that conveyed "what a resort looks like" but this shot conveys the message "Wouldn't you like to be the one sitting here?" which is perfect for the message of the guide.

I will send inconnections a printed copy of the book when ready (please PM me your mailing address) and I will send the PDF version of the book to everyone above in this message thread who was kind enough to submit photos or links to your photo web pages. Please PM me with your email address and I will send you the guide when ready (it's in the final edit and typesetting stage at the moment).

                  Thanks again to everyone!

                    My timeshare guide is published!

Guy, congratulations with the publication of your timeshare guide. I am honored that you featured my picture of our timeshare resort in Nuevo Vallarta. I like that picture too as well as the resort.

I would love to receive a hard copy of your book and will email you my address. Would you please autograph the book for me. Thank you very much.
