  • Sad Day

We moved to TN a couple of years ago to be closer to our oldest daughter and her family which includes two grandsons. It has been a good two years, but they just got transferred to Detroit, MI and left today. We are really going to miss them, especially the boys that we have watch grow up from living a 1/3 of a mile away. Thanks to Timesharing we will still be able to spend time with them during their breaks in school. We have a trip planned for their Spring Break (luckly the week didn't change from their old school to new school) to Southern California to visit LegoLand, etc. We are also going with them and their parents to HHI in December and maybe Cancun over Memorial Day - if they can miss three days of school. In TN they started in mid August and out in mid May and now in their new school north of Detroit they start the day after Labor Day and get out mid June.

At least Southwest flys from Nashville to Detroit so will probably be making a run or two on it, when it is not snowing.

So many of our friends have stayed where they were after retirement because "that's where the kids are."

We chose to move to a location we loved. All of our 4 children have since moved away, one to Baja Ca. If we had stayed in our old town, we would now be alone. Even all our old friends have relocated. I'm so glad we made the move bak when we did. We could never afford it now.

Eric I do hope you and your DW have made friends and put down roots in your community. A lot of my family, though I have 2 sisters not far from BigFrank's house, is far flung and it is sad when you don't see them as much as you'd like.

I'm glad you have some timeshare vacations planned with them and you can keep on doing that. It is not the same though.

That is very sad. I hope that you will still see them often.

I am sure they will look forward to your visits as if it were Christmas. Grandparents have a way with bringing presents when they visit.

I'm sorry you are losing them in the area, Eric, but I am sure your visits and time together will be treasured. Teach the grandchildren how to e-mail as soon as they are able!
