  • 10 things I did today while the market crashed

    1.) Made omlettes for breakfast.
2.) Harvested the last tomatoes in my garden
3.) Visited with my daughter who I haven't seen in 2 years since she moved to Cabo and she is in Ca. for a few days.
4.) Took my youngest son & his wife out to lunch.
5.) Played with my little 20 month old grandaughter

The sixth thing is I ignored the news. The seventh is I sold no stocks. The eighth is that I didn't check my 401k. The nineth is that I enjoyed the first rain of Autumn.

    10.) I said to myself...life is good.

    What did you do today?

I cooked up the best beef pot pie I ever did cook. Did I mention it was my first pot pie I ever made. It took all day but was worth it.
I also made my self and the wife a Pomagrante Martini that was great.

barndweller, allenh, and Frank, I like how you celebrated the day....we did some home repairs, enjoyed a very few moments of CNBC where we were lucky enough to catch Rick Santelli tell everyone on the roundup that the media was helping to orchestrate this mess and recalled Bonfires of the Vanities where he referred to "crumbs"....(Santelli is my hero for the day)....went out to dinner with a friend, and came home to enjoy a small glass of a wonderful muscat. We then watched the SNL parody of Palin to continue the elevated the mood.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

          Let's see, I...
          1. Didn't wake up till after the market opened (I'm in Nevada)
          2. Drank coffee and read the paper
          3. Surfed the 'net
          4. Talked to Jerry's coworker Stu
          5. Talked to Jerry for awhile
          6. Made grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Yum...
          7. Went out to Ulta
          8. Picked up the mail
          9. Talked to Irene on the phone (sister)
          10. Talked to Jean (neighbor)
That's just what I did between 8 AM and about 3 PM. There's more, but I don't want to bore you. It wasn't a very exciting day. But of course, I didn't have to work, either.

Now if you talk about the last few days, I had lunch with two different TUGgers on two different days (hey, bigFrank, we went to Village Pub and the guy's wife had the Chicken Fried Stead!), and my girlfriends and I went across town for the Bare Escentuals makeover and then out to dinner.

Life's tough. I need a daybook just to keep up these days.

The only thing of any consequence I did was to switch our cell phone service from ATT to Verizon.

My day looked a lot like barndwellers, except I'm not growing tomatoes and had a "George's jammin berry" bagle and cream cheese from Zingerman's for breakfast.

Made breakfast for daughter and packed her a salad for lunch.

Took daughter's dog for a 8 mile walk around Lum's Pond.

Looked at my 401 and then transferred from cash to stocks.

getting ready for a nap. The walk took it's toll on me.

                            8 Miles!! Whoa!!

Got up at t10am as Kelli was off work and took Betty ( my neighor ) to my hairdresser for a makeover. Wow looks great!! The reason I took her was last time she got lost.

We went to lunch at Nitty Gritty for soul food.

Went home and packed our packages to mail out. I'm trying to get rid of my stuff thru Ebay. I end up buying more thru Shop Goodwill but buy it to resell on Ebay.

Went to find out about where my antler lamp is. (It needed redoing)

Dropped Betty off and drove to Best Buy and bought Kelli Pickler and James Taylor (his is great)

Came home and made supper (meatloaf and baked potatoes)

Checked Ebay and Shop Goodwill. I have won some amazing deals.

Sheez... I must be too busy... I missed this thread.

Still in Michigan, remodeling for sister-in-law. Been at it for 10 weeks. Was to head back to Yorktown by now, but being delayed until 18th or so.

Mom's coming up from FL and SIL plans a celibration for her 90th. So we have to stick around of course.

Can't include all that has been accomplished, but let's see... for just today...

                              1. made coffee & sandwich of cracked wheat toast, chunky PB and half a banana.
                              2. took my medications.
                              3. trimmed flooring to fit bathroom floor.
                              4. installed bottom rail in white silicone sealer on tub (new shower doors).
                              5. went to Home Depote. Returned all items not needed for tub/shower resurfacing & picked up CLEAR silicone sealer and baseboard.
                              6. mounted side-wall jambs on bottom track and secured to tub surround.
                              7. applied clear silicone sealer to edges of track and jambs.
                              8. cleared bath closet floor and removed 28 yr old flooring.
                              9. cut new piece of flooring to fit closet floor.
                              10. Ate outmeal, leftover from others breackfast, for lunch.
                              11. cemented flooring.
                              12. taped off tub, vanity and floor & painted wall behind commode location.
                              13. installed top rail & shower doors.
                              14. affixed door center glide assembly to bottom rail.
                              15. made rum and coke and propped up feet in lazy boy while waiting for home made hamburg. YUM!
                              16. installed new commode.
                              Robert
