      Thank you!
It's my third postive message from Australia this morning (friend in Melbourne, and an expat in Sydney) -- good news travels fast, eh ))

Thank you Jim for your kind message. It was a difficult campaign and it was wonderful to see that the voter turnout was so excellent. The next several years will be difficult and it is a job I certainly wouldn't want.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

              Hi, Jim!!!

Yes, very exciting times here. Not sure about the nation coming together part, as the popular vote was split by only a small percentage. But we have an opportunity to come together now, and I, for one, about optimistic about our future. Thank you for the kind words.

Not that small a percentage in the popular vote. Obama won the biggest share of popular vote since Lyndon Johnson in 1964....Obama 52.3%, McCain 46.4%.

However, I do agree that although we have come a long way, we still have a long way to go.....We can hope tho, Yes we can.

Wow, that is more than I realized! When I finally went to sleep last night (or tried to, there was so much noise on the street from people hooting and hollering and honking that it wasn't easy to sleep) the spread wasn't that big.

It is impossible to find a newspaper on the street in the city today, btw!

I also would like to offer my congratulations to all the Americans here.... I am not an American but I was moved by the speeches of both Obama and McCain. It was a great day to be an American!

.... and you also had free Starbucks coffee and Ben & Jerry's ice cream to boot! Wow, you really know how to celebrate elections!

                      Nicely said Jim, and ditto.

IreneLF, many of us Aussies take an active interest in your politics. It's the talk of the town and not one person I spoke to today was unhappy with the choice. Well done.

                        Thanks JIM.

Obama asked the young voters to get out and vote and that they did.
His “Change” campaign pounded jobs and education at them. It’s no wonder he got over half of the vote.

Then too, some people, young and old were afraid of voting for a 71 year old. Also many want the warring to stop.

But the popular vote isn’t what puts Obama in as president. The campaigning was for Electoral College votes in choice states that would tip the balance... But then, you read the news.

I agree we have come a long way. Obama is being handed a mess, but by efforts in this country and all around the earth and by the grace of God, we can pull together and overcome.

To bad your thread was cut short on TUG.

                        Again, thanks Jim.
