I would like to have a roof full of PVC panels and a room full of batteries/inverter.

Our rural co-op does a lot of editorial politcking in their monthly magazine, but it is all aimed at them selling more electricity at a lower cost to them. Very little is devoted to alternative energy sources.

Guess they're pulling for their own dog there.

(I used all three theres in one sentence. )

Wow! Almost a year to the day of my last post.

For 10/20-11/13, ave. high 66, ave. low 49, our electric bill is $76.32.

That's the total for everything, no gas, oil, water, etc.

        Last month in Colorado:
        Electric: $103
        Gas: $44

4000 sq. ft. finished living space (ranch w/ garden-level basement), gas forced air heat and hot water. Effective electric rate of $.069/KWH.

Our electric peaks out at about $150 in the summer w/ A/C running, and gas peak is about $90 in the coldest winter month.

Wow! So far these are amazingly low.

What happened to the energy crisis?

Not even close Tony! Last 3 electric bills were:

              Sept. - $276

              Oct. - $254

              Nov. - $235

All electric, 1,800 sq. ft. all finish, pool, etc., doesn't include water/sewer & its the highest its every been in the last 4 years! Turned-on the heat the last two days as we got a cold front come thru again already! Yeah, Southwest Florida is a killer & we are in the lowest part of Southwest Florida, 5 hours from Key West which is cold also!

                Bills for Oct.

                Gas $25.83
                Electric $59.78

House is 3700 sf w/2400 sf finished.

Gas is actually the biggest bill with the largest fluctuation. It hits $200 in the dead of winter(Jan/Feb). Electric is pretty stable with summer heating use offset by a 15% discount for use of 'energy saver' switch (installed by the electric co. and used to switch power on and off to the A/C compressor during peak demand times).

                  South of Phoenix

2000 sq ft, one floor w/pool filter that runs 8-12 hrs a day depending on the season. Drip irrigation that runs an hour every couple of days. Gas heat and hot water.

                  Oct - Elec - 162, Gas 29, Water/Sewer 65
                  Nov - Elec - 95, Gas 35, Water/Sewer 63

The gas bill will climb now that it's a frigid 68 degrees during the day and forty somthing at night. Brrrr.

We've been in this house 20 months. Highest electric was 352 this past September. We had company from the east coast for two weeks so we turned down the thermostat for them. Lowest was 82 this past March. Highest gas was 106 this past March and lowest was 25. Half of our gas bills have been below 30.

Water and sewer are between 60 and 65 every month.

It's been a warm fall and I'm cold and heavy into conservation, but the $ 300 and $ 400 bills will be coming even with the cheaper electric supplier that will be kicking in in December or January.

                      Sept - Elec $148.58 Gas $51.72

                      Oct - Elec $100.77 Gas $97.34

                      Nov - Elec $87.62 Gas $146.26

October I actually broke even with the budget acount of $310/month and as of November they owe me about $85.

2100 sq ft of furnished living space. Water is ~ $50 every 3 months.

I actually had the heat on for a day or two in June this year and don't think the c/a was on for more than 2 weeks all summer long. The heat is 3 zones. The lowest level is hardly ever on. The middle is on during the day but turned down around 10PM each night. The bedroom level is on 68 degrees 24 x 7 unless we are away.

Something weird is happening with our utility bills. They were sky-high last winter, crazy high for gas.

We did get the attic completely re-insulated with R30 insulation and we also added insulation in the basement.

But for the past three months, our cost for gas has been ZERO, and now this month it's $130, which is very very very low for us. And the heat is on. I think the utility company realized they had overcharged us last year and now they're refiguring....

                            our latest bills were:

                            281. elect.

                            105. gas

we are on a monthly budget plan for both where they take your annual total and divide by 12 and you pay that number.

our home is over 4100 sq feet, 5 beds , 4 baths and cathedrals in great room, mstr suite and rec room. We have only 1 fireplace but we do have an inground pool that stays open a minimum of 6 months per year and it runs constantly.
The problem with real life is that there is no background music.

We are on a plan where our usage is averaged and we pay the same amount each month. For the past couple of years our payments have been $381/month for gas and electric. This month the payment due was $157. Happy Holidays!

OK but I still think mine are the highest and I forgot about my water bill so add another $51 for this months bill but I shut off my sprinkler system last month and during the summer it was $150 to over $200 per month.
