There are some killer deals out there right now. I saw an ad for a Panasonic 42" plasma for $600. It was a 720P set, but at that screen size it doesn't matter.

          42" for $600....

Where was that ad? I'm looking to replace TV's in the master bedroom and by the kitchen bar.. $600 a pop would be a nice number!

I am getting ready to buy three for our household.....the prices out there are getting better and better. Mitsubishi is also offering a $600 gas card in addition to the sale prices.

Sports if the main driver for me.....so I think I need to go plasma instead of LCD. My parents have an LCD and it is kinda blurry during the hockey games....no way am I paying for blurry. 120Hz is supposed to take care of some of that....but.....

            Any opinions?

Definitely Plasma for sports. Even at 120 HZ, the refresh rate still doesn't measure up to plasma. For other stuff, it's less of an issue.

The ad I saw was Boscov's. Unfortunately, there are none near here. The model # of the TV is a Panasonic TH-42PX80U and they've been on sale at numerous places lately. It gets very positive reviews everywhere I've looked. I'm hoping to score one for the MBR before Christmas. I believe Best Buy has a Samsung 42" plasma on sale this week for $699. Haven't read up on it yet.

I with you there -- primarily interested in sports, so I started looking at plasma. I was under the impression that plasma was being surpassed by LCD, but it seems as though most of the early issues with plasma (burn-in, etc) have been addressed (from what I've read recently). I've also read numerous claims that 720P vs 1080P is pretty much a non-issue unless you have a large screen >= 46", and/or sit very close to your TV. I'm not a videophile, and I'm no expert on the technology advances. Just going off of what I've read (mostly on the 'net).

For what it is worth, Consumer Reports rates Samsung as the best in all size categories of LCD TV as well as some of the Plasma sizes as well. Samsung also has the lowest prices in each category.

Best Buy was advertising a 52" Samsung 1080 LCD TV for $1499 which is $1,000 of their regular price of $2499. As I said earlier, Consumer Reports rates Samsung as the best. This ad was for Black Friday so there may not be anymore left.

                          Good luck.

Looking for LCD or plasma? 1080P or 720P? I've been wearing my eyeballs out looking for deals, so I may have a link.
